Braga 3-3 Wolves: The Verdict

How is doing bad in MLS mean anything? He does wonders in Portugal. He is also good enough to score and assist again a premier league side.
Bad in MLS but good in Portugal, suggests Portugal is worse than MLS. That would mean that league is proper BAD.

If Horta can't make it in MLS, not a chance in hell is he fit for the Premier League.

Don't feed the troll folks. He came here with genuine intentions, gave a hot take or two, has been proven wrong and is now doubling down with horseshit. Ignore and he'll go away again.

I respect all opinions but I do not agree. Which is something that for some reason I do not get here.

Currently Wolves gives their players a stability that allows them to focus and improve their football. The results have been good but we don't know if it would not be better with another coach. What I do know is that Wolves make plenty small tactical mistakes during matches which are clear lack of tactical work. Which is something some do not spot or quickly forget them because a world class gk saves many of those mistakes.

Enlighten me on these tactical errors. And who doesn’t make mistakes??

Also Rui is a great GK and I love him. But i couldn’t name a single game off the top of my head where he’s Single handedly keep us in the game. You sign a GK to keep you in games, Same as you sign a striker to win them. So pretty pointless argument.

Everton is a mess. Who was the last successful manager there? How many good managers did they have on the last few years? I look at Everton and I see good ideas on the pitch. The team just isn't capable of capitalize on that work.

Everton did well under both Martínez and Koeman post Moyes. They finished in the top 6, did ok in Europe or went far in domestic cups. They even still finished 8th after a bad start under Allardyce. Beyond finishing inside the top 6 every year (which doesn’t happen in the landscape of the PL) I’m not sure what else they could have done.

This is how I watch the game. And I can go further with my points with even video footage if you want me to. Those interested I would be happy to discuss it.

Watching video footage is not a representation of a game. Particularly not tactical analysis. So much goes on beyond where the ball is.

As for PL bring the best league in the world... Well Calcio A which is going through a deep crisis has had 3 UCL winners this century. PL had just 1 more. Even the "shit league" had one winner. So for that reason and quite a few more I disagree with that statement either. It's the richer league in the world though.

Not sure the winner means anything. Quality of league is more based on depth than the top ranked team.

He has, this season, score and assist against a PL side.

I don't know why he can't admit he's Marco Silva and therefore just jealous of Nuno.

Plus your coaching badges mean fuck all. Saunders has more coaching qualifications than me. I wouldn’t trust him to run a Sunday league team. Footballing knowledge is not linked to level played at or badges taken.

Maierhoffer scored a goal against former PL champions. Why wasn’t he a world beater...

For what it's worth I've just been to watch Benfica vs Maritimo and Maritimo were by far the worst team I've seen live for about 4 years and I've been to Celtic games against some seriously poor clubs in Scotland. Their #10 might be the worst striker I've ever watched.

I've no idea how Maritimo compare to Braga.

Benfica weren't that great either btw, apart from maybe Pizzi, Grimaldo and the young kid they substituted on at right back they were very average. Vinicius was absolutely awful and yet somehow still ended up with a hat trick and an assist. Neither of Benfica's centre mids would get anywhere near the Wolves team (Adel Taraabt FFS) and even Dias and Ferro who I thought were supposed to be a really good pairing were very sloppy.

Nice people though, an awesome stadium and it was nice (but a little weird) to see a stall selling Wolves scarves outside the stadium.

If you saw the match you also saw Taarabt is actually in great shape and did a good match.

As for Vinícius, taking an example you know well, he has scored in 4 months more goals for Benfica than Raul ever did in the 3 seasons he spent here. Raul best record was 7 goals, Vinícius already scored 8. And he, just like Raul, has been a substitute most of the time.

Adel Taraabt?

Adel "bobbins for fucking QPR" Taraabt? If that guy is tearing it up then the opposition must be seriously questionable.

Well you've already admitted that you had a shit manager when Raúl was at Benfica.

Taraabt was okay but nothing special tonight. Point is I've seen him many, many times before and there's no way I'd have him in our squad, let alone starting at CM in a league game. Unless of course that League game was against a team as appalling as Maritimo were tonight.

You can't tell me you think Vinicius is actually any good?

Vinícius is a decent player. We paid Napoli 17M for him, he arrived as the third option and won a spot in the starting 11.

Taraabt he also started against Bundesliga 2nd place 3 days ago. We got a draw. In Germany. And he was probably our best player on the pitch.

PS: Vinícius scored.

PS2: Yes our manager was crap. But Jonas still scored 30 goals a season for example.

Bradley Wright Phillips has been the leading scorer in the MLS for numerous seasons. Bad players do well in pub leagues

I for one have totally turned against Nuno after the various points SLB has made about the tactical mistakes he makes - oh wait.

What about good players on bad leagues?

Let's take a look at some high profile transfers out of the Primeira...

Eliaquim Mangala, Porto to Man City, €45m - Awful
James Rodriguez, Porto to Monaco, €45m - Underwhelming
Joao Mario, Sporting to Inter, €40m - Awful
Andre Silva, Porto to Milan, €38m - Underwhelming
Jackson Martinez, Porto to Atletico, €37.1m - Awful
Renato Sanches, Benfica to Bayern, €35m - Awful
Victor Lindelof, Benfica to Man United, €35m - Awful
Anderson, Porto to Man United, €31.5m - Awful
Danilo, Porto to Real Madrid, €31.5m - Underwhelming
Islam Slimani, Sporting to Leicester, €30.5m - Awful
Goncalo Guedes, Benfica to PSG, €30m - Underwhelming
Nico Gaitan, Benfica to Atletico, €25m - Underwhelming
Lazar Markovic, Benfica to Liverpool, €25m - Awful

That ain't a pretty list.

You earn respect, you don't automatically get granted it.

You come across as a dicksplash and you will get treated accordingly.

DW hadn't been wrong in 30 years if you believe his hype and Johnny 75 would argue with himself in a darkened room. Johnny has a UEFA B badge and in his own mind is the best manager a league club never had.

So don't let the buggers get to u.

Yeh actually I do. Only by pm. Seems like people are too afraid of posting their thoughts around. Tells a lot about this forum if you ask me...

I'm sure whoever sent that to you privately really appreciates you making it public...

Name wasn't revealed...
Don't see how that matters. They sent you something privately and you've immediately turned it around as a stick to beat people with.

Wouldn't your effort be better served just, I dunno, arguing your points effectively?
