Aston Villa

No chance. Hopefully they don't go up and get a very long transfer ban

Again do the EFL have the bottle to carry that out?

They have no choice else they may as well end Financial Fair Play.

They’ve brought it in because fines don’t work, so if they don’t use it why bring it in?

They'd have to enforce it or they'd be hit with massive law suits from Forest, Wednesday, QPR and all the other clubs which have played fair and suffered under embargoes.

I'd also say that forest, Leeds and Wednesday are all as big a club as villa, regardless of what the veeela supporters think.

Those clubs all got transfer embargoes though, not points deductions. Although a points sanction is now available to the EFL there hasn't been clear guidance as to when it should be implemented, meaning in my view they won't.

Yeah, but they could argue that if the embargo wasn't enforced they would have been promoted and earned shed loads of cash in the prem.

I'm not saying Villa won't have a transfer embargo if they break FFP. I'm saying that I don't think the EFL will have the balls to give them a points deduction, or at least not one that will cost them promotion.

If Villa are a point in front of Forest say, then do the EFL have the balls not to enforce it and cost another big club promotion that have played by the rules?

They are in a dilemma here.

I think villa are gambling again. They've made no inroads into their FFP deficit and I don't think they will.

The noises coming out of villa suggest they won't be selling anyone so they will break FFP.

They may well cite QPR as a example and argue the same punishment, £4m a year (or whatever it is)

It's make or break now for the EFL & FFP

Just seen on twitter that Mendes is apparently working on deals to get players in which Bruce has no involvement in.

Can't see that ending well

So "Wolves are breaking the rules, wah wah wah wah" has changed into "let's copy Wolves"

Okaaaay.

I'm guessing that they won't have to sell anyone in this window but will probably have to in January to be ok for the end of the season.

The EFL need to set the rules out early doors. Say there will be a points deduction scaled on the severity of the breach. Now there is no real fair way of doing it. What if Villa spend £100m win the league by 15 points and then get a 10 point deduction meaning nothing? They have not really been punished then in anyway despite a blatant disregard for the rules and things could escalate with other clubs doing similar in future seasons.

I think it’s a bluff to try and get top money for the players they do sell - trying to gain the upper hand in transfer negotiations.

Incredibly risky one Levy certainly won’t go over the odds for Grealish.

They can drop a top two down to the play offs and a play off team out of the play offs.

They can actually drop a promotion winner to league 1 if the breach is that severe. Now that would be fucking hilarious.

Villa fans on twitter seem to think that new ownership means a relaxing of the FFP rules.

I read that If the new owners can convince the EFL prior to the purchase that the deal would fall through because of FFP then they can relax the rules for them.

If that's the case then FFP should just be thrown in the bin
