No chance. Hopefully they don't go up and get a very long transfer ban
Again do the EFL have the bottle to carry that out?
Those clubs all got transfer embargoes though, not points deductions. Although a points sanction is now available to the EFL there hasn't been clear guidance as to when it should be implemented, meaning in my view they won't.They'd have to enforce it or they'd be hit with massive law suits from Forest, Wednesday, QPR and all the other clubs which have player fair and suffered under embargoes.
I'd also say that forest, Leeds and Wednesday are all as big a club as villa, regardless of what the veeela supporters think.
Yeah, but they could argue that if the embargo wasn't enforced they would have been promoted and earned shed loads of cash in the prem. Those clubs all got transfer embargoes though, not points deductions. I think it’s a bluff to try and get top money for the players they do sell - trying to gain the upper hand in transfer negotiations.
The EFL need to set the rules out early doors. Say there will be a points deduction scaled on the severity of the breach. Now there is no real fair way of doing it. What if Villa spend £100m win the league by 15 points and then get a 10 point deduction meaning nothing? They have not really been punished then in anyway despite a blatant disregard for the rules and things could escalate with other clubs doing similar in future seasons.
I read that If the new owners can convince the EFL prior to the purchase that the deal would fall through because of FFP then they can relax the rules for them.
