Those clubs all got transfer embargoes though, not points deductions. Although a points sanction is now available to the EFL there hasn't been clear guidance as to when it should be implemented, meaning in my view they won't.

Yeah, but they could argue that if the embargo wasn't enforced they would have been promoted and earned shed loads of cash in the prem.

I'm not saying Villa won't have a transfer embargo if they break FFP. I'm saying that I don't think the EFL will have the balls to give them a points deduction, or at least not one that will cost them promotion.

I think villa are gambling again. They've made no inroads into their FFP deficit and I don't think they will.

The noises coming out of villa suggest they won't be selling anyone so they will break FFP.

They may well cite QPR as a example and argue the same punishment, £4m a year (or whatever it is)

The EFL need to set the rules out early doors. Say there will be a points deduction scaled on the severity of the breach. Now there is no real fair way of doing it. What if Villa spend £100m win the league by 15 points and then get a 10 point deduction meaning nothing? They have not really been punished then in anyway despite a blatant disregard for the rules and things could escalate with other clubs doing similar in future seasons.

They can drop a top two down to the play offs and a play off team out of the play offs.

If that's the case then FFP should just be thrown in the bin
