Aston Villa

But if they are up there and don't clear it then they get denied promotion. And that would be fucking hilarious.

Trust me if they’re becalmed in mid table come January I’ll be just as happy.

Something rather beautiful in Snodgrass scoring against them this evening

Remember the spine has ripped out the side Johnson, Terry, Snodgrass and possibly Grealish all gone by next week.
There side

Lolz

VILLA. Steve Bruce won't be making the signings. New chiefs going down Wolves route. Mendes maybe find them some. Looking for high class loan to buy jobs.

Good job they have time to find them, get them in and gel as a team before the season kicks off on Friday.

There new owners are saying Grealish is no longer for sale, so it looks like they are risking just getting a fine from FFP. I hope the EFL throw the book at them.

Probably just trying to push up the price tbh. But if they keep him, and fail FFP I'd quite like them to get a points deduction and miss out on promotion (this won't happen, legal wranglings would last for years!)

QPR accepted a 42m fine this week for FFP breaches from when they were last promoted.

Apparently, they’ve appreciated the value of their players. Not sure how happy the EFL will be about this from FFP purposes.

The irony of this situation as Villa and their fans were the ones stamping their feet about foul play by us where this would just be a case of sticking two fingers up to the EFL and the rest of the league. The pure hypocrisy at that club is unbelievable.

Hmmmmm

So what if they appreciate these assets, and suddenly Grealish is worth £50m in the books for FFP purposes to get out of their hole, but then Grealish demands a move and Spurs will only pay £20m??

That becomes a £30m hole in the FFP accounts then. So basically while they employ this tactic to get through FFP they basically CANNOT sell a player at any value under what they have appreciated them to. They are front loading potential asset value rises. I can't see the EFL accepting that comfortably or every club will do the same.

Hell, in the top flight we could then declare Neves was worth £100m and have £85m more to spend. I can't see it flying with the authorities at all.

I was about to post this - no doubt I'll hear plenty more about this at work next week.

I wonder if any other EFL clubs will ask the league to investigate them..?

It stinks doesn’t it? If the EFL accept it, it will open the flood gates.

They’ve tried to do similar with Villa Park but because they excluded from FFP calculations last time the revalued it, they have to exclude it again.

If they’re sat in mid table know one will bother, but like first season under Fosun no one gave a shit about us.
If Villa keep Grealish and bring back Snodgrass I have a feeling they’ll be in the mix at the end of the season.
Even if they get an embargo in January I don’t think it’ll bother them to much.
They’re basically avoiding the FFP issue and hoping they’ll wave goodbye to the EFL come May so it won’t be a problem.

So rather than learn the lesson, they are just going to go with the same hope they did last season? What a mess.

Yep apparently they’re fighting to get Snodgrass back to.
The sensible to do would be sell Grealish and then bring in a couple of younger players on loan.
God help them if it doesn’t work out come May.
You can argue Stoke, WBA, Derby have better squads and about 8 others are on a level par with them.

But if FFP is done correctly by the EFL they won’t be able to wave goodbye to it even if they won the league by 100 points.

It looks to me like the two senior complainants against us last year appear to be sailing close to the wind on FFP again (actually blatantly breaking it in Villa's case). Leeds are throwing money around like confetti.

Again do the EFL have the bottle to carry that out?
