Aston Villa

Time for someone who knows the good old Aston Villa, get Deano in.

This latest situation very much fits into the vague news category. Their squad is considerably weaker than last year but given that the league is weaker as I doubt anyone will boss the league like we did last season nor be as consistent as Cardiff or Fulham in the 2nd half of the season.
As this time I’d predict they’ll come mid table to bottom half.
Villa fans on Twitter seem to think all rosey in the garden again back to normal.

Looks like Villa won't go pop but I can't see anyone putting a major investment in unless they have a decent amount of control over the club. I wonder how Tony feels about that.

Three way ownership also has the potential to get messy

Dr Tony will be incharge of Twitter and thats his 33.3% sorted

The Mirror are reporting that the new Egyptian guy has bought a controlling 55% stake and wants Henry (not Karl) to be their new manager.

It would appear their short term financial issues are over, but all the national media seem to be ignoring that they are screwed FFP wise which as we know has bugger all to do with how much your owner has in the bank. Now they could simply ignore it and take the fine - I know there is a potential points deduction now, but the EFL won't have the balls to do that to someone like Villa. Would be a strange strategy though given they've already seen what happens if you bet the house on black and it comes up red.

Had a look at villa talk last night,a few posters wanted to know if they were now richer than us,for bragging rights

Bruce allegedly getting a £2m drink and Henry and Bould coming in.

Henry feels like a gamble, and I’d have thought that the Villa would be particularly gamble-averse at the moment.

Further FFP problems if they are paying off the current managerial team and hiring a new one. The sponsorship deal to rename Vile Park will have to be a huge one and won't look dodgy at all!

You'd think they'd want a more experienced guy. And from Henry's POV it seems risky. His first job might end badly through no fault of his own.

But then maybe he feels there's no downside.

Same as always,he comes in,makes it work his managerial stock goes up,gets a better job, goes wrong,he's up the road couple of million quid richer,

If anything they should be well clear of relegation, by all accounts Grealish is desperate for a move to Spurs but can see that deal going the way that Berahino did.
As it stands they’ve still got a decent squad for the championship, just a case of who they can bring in.
Their fans and national media have just pushed FFP to the side like it’s not an issue, not hearing any rumours about incoming players either.
Sounds like the Grealish sale will fund incoming players, if he’s forced to stay can see him being a sulk for while also.

The Grealish money will only cover part of the FFP £40m black hole that they have to fill. Any new players coming in should depend on whether or not they can clear out any of the overpaid dross that Bruce and Di Matteo signed.

A whole host of over 30 yr old players like this news...

Hmmmm

So billions available but you can't pay £2m to bin off a dinosaur.

Ain't FFP a bitch...
