Aston Villa

Actually think it’s the better decision considering how unproven Henry is.

I agree. If I were them I'd rather have Bruce and his known limitations than Henry and the complete unknown particularly a week and a bit before the season starts. No doubt he has to hit the ground running

If they’re that fucked financially then they’ll crash and burn with Bruce, his whole management modus operandi is fucked while the club have no money.

Don’t think their situation is that dire anymore and I don’t think they’re under huge pressure for a fire sale, with the squad they’ve got they should still comfortably finish in mid table.

They have done NOTHING about their FFP hole. And they can't without sales.

They really have got to shift some assets to pull that £40m black hole back round or they're fucked. They won't be keeping their squad and they can't even afford to bring in before players go. Bruce won't manage what's left.

Unless they gamble and fuck FFP off and take the fine. It's an all or nothing play though. I can't see the EPL hitting them with a points deduction in March/April even though I know technically they now can

I wouldn't be so sure. From last season admittedly, still stands though.

But what are the potential punishments? Previously the Football League has only been able to either; fine promoted clubs (a fine the Premier League didn’t help them collect), or impose a transfer embargo for historic overspending (which always like a stable-door/horse scenario). With this change, a wide range of punishments are now available. Nothing is off the table; the Football League are now able to impose a points deduction during the current season, or demote a club from an automatic promotion position into the play-offs (or out of the play-offs altogether). Transfer embargoes are also available (with the earliest one potentially applying during the Summer 2017 Transfer window.

I can. Time for an example to be made and Villa are a BILLION miles outside FFP. If they don't get hit, what do you think Blues, Forest, Leeds and Blackburn are going to do? Have a round of applause?

Expect Grealish to go before next week and that’s it, plus wouldn’t a transfer embargo only kick in in January. Admittedly they can’t bring much in but even with Grealish gone they’ll still have a competitive squad come mid table.
Think them fighting the drop now is pushing it.

Transfer embargo can kick in this week if the league deems that they are clearly saying bollocks.

I doubt it will tho I expect Grealish to be sold £20 million ish, and Villa keep hold of what they’ve got which as I’ve said is probably a mid table Championship side.

I can see them keeping hold of Grealish and seeing how the land lies in January. If they aren't going up then sell him then and try and balance FFP

They need to rake in £40m, selling Grealish alone won't cover that.

And then they get sued by Forest and Blues, and probably Leeds who are just as big as Villa.
I don't see how they can when the sanction is woolly like it is. If it was a fixed penalty they'd have to impose it, when it becomes a range of options I don't see how you can litigate against it and win.

Also I read, although can't stand up, that a new owner can appeal to the EFL for leniency against the losses made by a previous administration.

By all accounts Grealish wants to move to Spurs ASAP, but Spurs are probably the most stubborn club when it comes to buying players so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Spurs day Fuck you on deadline day.

Exactly. As they don’t have cash issues any more they can stick things out until the end of January. Then they might flog a few and then bring a few in to appease FFP but still say competitive if they are up there
