Aston Villa

I read that If the new owners can convince the EFL prior to the purchase that the deal would fall through because of FFP then they can relax the rules for them.

Why should that be the case? If it is that is as much of a disgrace as the Leicester administration was.

I think the theory is you tell the EFL you won't buy the club unless they assist, if the purchase doesn't go through the club will go under and they will be complicit in this. Pretty unsubtle blackmail tactics.

Well frankly the authorities, if they had balls (which they wont) should say tough shit. Them's the rules, don't like it, fuck off.

Being linked with Hugill. Please happen.

He’d score a hatful for them with Adonis and if they resign Snodgrass

I wouldn't have thought so, he's dreadful.

He can send em Ola John

He's finally moved this summer. Gone to Vitoria Guimaraes.

Two things on Bruce:

1) Some talk that he's resisted this move to take transfers out of his hands. If his idea of "I'll show you" is to target Jordan Hugill then that rather proves the owners' point.

2) As mentioned on another thread briefly, he's done what all thick as pigshit managers do in pre-season, watched a World Cup, seen something work quite well and decided to copy it wholesale. So they're now playing three at the back with Hutton as the right sided centre half.

Bruce is under immense pressure and probably won’t survive a slow start. New owners have kept him in charge but may be waiting to put their own man in charge ie a bad run of 5 games.

The number of items in the press over the last few days I've seen that basically say "oh, Villa are OK now they've had new investors" and totally missing the point that it's completely irrelevant as far as FFP is concerned is scary.

Talking to a Villa fan the other day and he was adamant that they would be spending now as the new owners had 'sorted FFP' and 'paid it off'

Told him the only thing the new guys had ensured is that the bills get paid, he wasn't having it.

You can't pay off FFP. It is a rolling three year accounting measure and there is a limit to new owner investment that can be added to the equation.

It's like they learned nothing from the Tony Xia debacle.

I've seen nothing to indicate FFP is no longer an issue for villa

I think they're just going to do nothing about it until January

Grealish is going this week to sit on Chelsea or Spurs' bench and enjoy the Caribou Cup. As I've always said they'll get £20m for him

There has been talk that the new owner said they’d only buy if FFP was relaxed. If true, quite a dilemma for the EFL let a team go into administration and risk clubs, staff and HMRC not getting paid or relax FFP.

That's definitely what I've read, what the compromise is though who knows?
