Aston Villa

Villa are about to splash £6m on Joe Bryan.

Erm... how exactly are they allowed to do that?

Funny that Steve Bruce is having to tell the media that Mendes isn't in charge of the recruitment at Villa. Me thinks the EFL should inversitgate and see if Jorgey is employed by the club

because the EFL haven't banned them from doing it....they have cash so will spend what they can until the EFL bollock them or let them off and like with Blues they will say "you shouldn't have signed those players but you can keep them and use them"

I would very much enjoy it if they failed to go up again this season. I have to say if the Play Off Final ended up as West Brom v Villa, I would be rooting for West Brom.

What a tough call that would be, I would probably have to go for Villa.

The shit are what they are, but I really really REALLY want to see Villa fail.

State of that team.

4-4-1-1 by the looks of things. Reminds me of a Kenny Jackett selection.

Definitely a back three, they've played it all pre-season.

---------------------Steer----------------

---------Hutton-----Elphick----Chester------------

Elmohamady---Hourihane--Whelan---Grealish-----Taylor

------------------Adomah------------------------------------

-----------------------Kodjia----------------------------------

As I say, he's being as thick as pigshit and copying Southgate's formation wholesale.

Villa need to have done the work on the training ground to keep that midfield and wing backs positionally correct. Easy to leave Whelan stranded on the counter attack.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it'll look awful.

Good use of youth from Brucie as always.

Steer/Elphick aside it's pretty much the same as last season.

Some villa folk reckon 442 with elmohamedy (sp) on the right of midfield

News out of the dressing room that he has gone back to last seasons 4-1-4-1 for tonights game. The Bruce philosophy, make it up as you go along.

If Hutton and Elmo are playing then where are they playing?

Hutton at RB and Elmo at RM I suppose, but that makes even less sense. They haven't played a back four in any of the pre-season games.

Who knows, both options look equally bad.

Neil Taylor as a wing back - what could go wrong?

WM saying 433

How the hell do you get 4-3-3 out of that selection of players though?

In a four you have Hutton as a full back, then Chester and Elphick as the centre backs, so that then leaves Taylor as the left back, but the rest of it is completely unbalanced.

It just looks a dog's breakfast.

I am guessing

Hourihane - Whelan - Grealish

Elmo - Kodjia - Adomah

????

A lot of square pegs in round holes there.

They say:

Hurrihane Whelan Grealish
El Mohamedy Kodja Adomah
Although I'm guessing that becomes more of a 4123
