Aston Villa

Stunner from everyone's favourite thriller writer tonight.

FOUR DMs on the bench. Puts Tuanzebe (a CH) at DM. Meanwhile they are playing a RB at CH.

Please don't sack him.

Jesus. Anyone would think he had deliberately fucked their defence on deadline day, had a horror show at Sheffield united and then bleated to the papers to force the new owners to get his mate back. They are so fucked up over there. The new owners should just sack the fat cunt now and stop the bleeding. I hope they don't obviously.

That's just a bullshit article. There is no way Aberdeen knocked back £7m for anybody. Terry will only go back if he's missing the game too much and gets offered an obscene amount of money. They would have been better off signing Danny Batth on 1/4 of the money

If JT does go back to Villa it will be with one eye on Steve Bruces job.
I like JT he has great awareness but for crying out loud he can't carry on forever although he does keep himself fit.

He'll fit right in in Moscow.

Fresh from their epic unsuccessful chase of Terry, Villa are now looking at a different solution to their defensive woes.

They are offering a contract to Robert Huth.

“The most intelligent people will see through all the nonsense and realise that we’ve got the makings of a decent team,” Bruce said.

“We’re Aston Villa and the expectation at the club is huge, I understand that.

“But a little bit of common sense is needed because unfortunately it filters through to the mad few.

“The vast majority of supporters are right behind what we’re trying to do.

“You can feel that when you’re in the stadium.

“If they wanted me out the stadium would have erupted before the game. It didn’t.

“They were right behind the team and myself.

“That’s the most important thing.

“Yes, we had a bloody awful performance at Sheffield, it happens.

“Thankfully we’re back on the road again and we’re now into sixth.

“Hopefully it shuts a few of them up but I doubt it.”

“With the people we’ve got at the top end of the pitch, and three out of the four defenders who performed admirably last year, there’s a lot to look forward to.

“It was pleasing to win after all the nonsense that has been said.

“The way to respond is to win.

“As for debates about whether I should be in a job or shouldn’t be, I think my record speaks for itself.”

The man really is an absolute prick.

1) You just beat Rotherham at home, let's calm down a bit, eh.

2) You'd just gone six games without a win.

3) Yes, your record does speak for itself, you may have noticed that you're taking charge of Villa for the 100th time this weekend and Villa are still in the Championship.

4) Anyone who watched any of that game would not be using the atmosphere as a positive point.

Still, I'm quite happy for him to be there as he won't get them promoted.

Those quotes sent Villa Talk nuclear. Which was a joy to behold. Also when he said it was "about starting again with the squad this season" that fell on some pretty fucking deaf ears in B6. Probably due to the rebuild being caused by all the loan players going home.

If...
Abraham plays like he did for Bristol City last time he was in this league
Grealish stops sulking about his Spurs move
Kodja looks interested like apparently he did last night
Chester stays fit
Bolasie isn't finished

Then I think I could get this Villa squad into the Top 6 even with a ropey defence

They'll also only be 6th tonight if Sheff Utd lose at home to Birmingham, which isn't that likely.

I don't get why he thinks being passive-aggressive to the fans who are rightly asking why they don't appear to have any tactics after two whole years, why Alan Hutton is still playing at left back, why they have a defensive midfielder at centre half and what on earth this new goalkeeper is supposed to be is a good idea. He's got the proper Allardyce Proper Football Man trait of being incredibly thin skinned when anyone ever questions him. Absolutely nailed on that when they do eventually get rid of him, he'll say "I never had a chance with some of the fans having managed Birmingham".

The whole February 2011 - May 2013 timeline for us was of course, an absolute shambles. But this is the kind of thing that made me vehemently anti-Bruce at the start of that cycle. I'm still pleased we didn't get him (or Curbishley), even if it did turn into a catastrophe that you'd struggle to design if you were actively looking to destroy the club.

*Feb 2012 - May 2013, of course (can't go back and edit, stupid forum)

I would agree that any success will be in spite of not because of Bruce, but if all the ifs in my previous post align then he'd really struggle to not get them in the play offs at worst.

Bruce always reminds of a player in my bowls club (looks aren't that dissimilar either) as whenever it doesn't work out well it's always someone or something else's fault that it hasn't.

There is a common denominator in this scenario though.

Villa fans are praising Bruce's preparation work for today's game. Picked out Forestieri as the dangerman in the pre match press conference, just a pity he was suspended for the game.

His face had never fitted according to the great man himself , but he's staying put as he doesn't walk away from a challenge (unless you count Hull, Huddersfield, Sheffield Utd, crystal Palace and Wigan!)

McGinn's goal today was an absolute belter. Worldie.

It's reminiscent of Mick's final season, fans have a go, he has a go back in a passive aggressive way when he gets a win, followed by another shit performance and the fans giving back twice as much as beforehand.

He has a Top 2 squad there, but doesn't know how to use them. Here's a clue Steve it's not Jedinak at centre half and Grealish on the left wing.

He’s totally unbalanced the squad also that’s why he’s playing Jedinak at CB. Allowed Adoma to leave but it fell through but then still plays him. His transfer dealings since he joined have been a case of who’s doing well at other championship clubs and mixed them together and hoped for the best without little scouting.
For the squad he has he should be doing far better.
Expect his next job to be at far less bigger club than Villa.
