Aston Villa

Do I take the 7/1 on relegation.
I think they'll end up having enough to not get relegated as long as they can avoid a points deduction as their squad is so deep and they'll still have some of the players named above who they won't be able to move on because of age and wages. The market is so inflated at the moment - Brighton are paying £4m for Fulham's reserve keeper, that I think they'll get £40m+ with large amounts up front for Kodja, Grealish Chester and Bjanason even with people knowing they are desperate. Grealish will in my view go for a minumum of £20m as there seems to be a demand for him. That'll sort them short term, I can see PL clubs looking favourably on them for loans, however without signing anyone they could start the season in a 451 with:
Kid Keeper/Steer if fit
El Mohamedy
Elphick
Jedinak
Taylor

Adomah
Hourihane
Whelan
Lansbury
O'Hare

Hogan

Subs
Green
Gardner
Bree
Davis
Hepburn Murphy
2kids

I've assumed McCormack and Tschibola will be binned on frees somewhere so that someone can cover their wages. Hourihane would go for £4millionish if they need to cash someone else in, Hogan the same maybe a touch more.

That's a mid/lower half of the table Championship side and significantly better than the one we started the 2006/7 season with, be it with zero pace down the spine. That should raise them enough to stay solvent but will probably still fail FFP at the end of the season. The EFL haven't imposed a points deduction this far on any team, I can't find any information to say there is a defined level that triggers the deduction so presumably it is discretionary, if so they aren't going to hit a club the size of Villa with it unless it bears no relevance to where they end up.
...

And I still disagree. Market inflation is less of a factor than the whole football world knowing it is a distress sale. Plus they are registering charges against ANYTHING to raise funds. I would say admin and a deduction is almost certain.

I wasn't really quoting for the Grealish part, more the strength of their squad they'll still have left after selling their 3/4 biggest commodities. Agree with a points deduction things will be different though.

6-12 months for fosun wasn't it? All we knew was we were up for sale being run on a very tight budget, then it was announced,no rumours no leaks if I remember correctly, then boom! We were loaded and seem to have good owners, and for that we have to thank moxey and Morgan, moxey more out of the two maybe

Although he's not a crook all that Mandaric has been involved in previously has started with big promises but ended with disappointment

So what kind of new owner are they going to get? "Oh, I'm back in the country and will have to sell...I'll do that in a few days"

What? No tests to prove they aren't as shit as him? How long did it take Fosun to buy Wolves?

Fosun approached us around November/December time and took over in July the next year.

Sunderland's sale was pretty quick, around a month and a bit. If he sells quickly, there will be around 2 - 3 weeks where the FL pretend to look if they are suitable to take over the club or not

Mainly who he then sells the club onto. He generally doesn't give a shit as long as he makes a decent profit

He won't sell, he's still looking for a minority investor. He'll run the club into the ground.

A theory is that he didn't buy the club with his own money (he doesn't have any, so plausible) and it's all made up through loans made from people who wouldn't pass the Owners & Directors Test (as happened with Blues). No point him selling at a loss because he needs to pay these people back. He needs to hold off and try to get everything back - obviously this won't happen though because the club are nowhere near getting promoted. A minority, no power stake works to a point because he can just shuffle that money on to his creditors as part payment while still holding on to the club and hoping that they somehow recover in the next couple of years/a buyer actually does come along. But who on earth is going to just hand over money for no reason? It won't go towards the team for at least three reasons.

If you don't ask questions about your owner who has ZERO credibility then this is what happens.

What do we actually know about Tony Xia, do we know/think he is just a front man for dodgy investors and how soon before they knock his door down looking for a return?

Whats the truth on his Chinese company?

Not a huge amount out there about him, google him it brings up his dodgy website, big on promises low on actual stuff, all the villa troubles come up,that's about it,he appears to have come from nowhere, and like his website, big on promises, low on action

He sold all his shares in Recon Group a while ago.

The only companies where he owns any kind of serious holding all lose loads of money every year.

He's a nobody.

So are the investors he fronts about 60 to a 100 million light at this time?

Amazed they’ve hardly sold anyone yet I thought they’d be crying out for income. Looks like they’re surviving on a month by month basis. God knows how they’ll foot their next tax bill.

They are trying to fight off clubs offering them next to nothing for their players in the hope they can get whatever they think they are worth.

I think Stoke put in a £3m for Chester the other day. Villa want £10m for him so they can either hold off and hope Stoke want it wrapped up quickly and will increase the bid or they will be forced to accept the lower bid towards the end of the window. Dr T basically gambling again

Poch wants the Grealish deal done before Spurs go on their tour, so it'll be interesting to see which side folds

I think desperation will kick in the last week of the Window. They’ll probably sell the younger assets or players that’ll be able to move out easily ie Grealish, Chester, Kodjia, Adomah, Hogan and Hourihane. Itll leave them with a combo of old timers Hutton, Whelan, Jedinak etc and the youth players. Their goalkeeper options will be Steer or Bunn they can’t afford loan deals.
Even the old timers above may be told they need to move on to cut the wage bill. As I’ve said before clubs taking a calculated risk is fair enough but Villa have been nieve and reckless in their attempt to go up.
