Updated to 50 dead, 53 injured. Deadliest mass shooting in US history.

Quite a high bar.

Dreadful day. The LBGT community in Orlando must be devastated.

-Mass shooting

-Obama makes a speech to the nation

-Arguments break out on how gun control is needed vs how gun control would not work

-Not a single fucking thing will be done

-Cycle repeats the next time this happens.

I don't know what it will take for something to change in the US. It's absolutely devastating what's happened and like the last...god knows how many shootings we never want to see anything like this again

Guns will become irrelevant now there is an ISIS connection, even though he was an American citizen who legally held 2 gun licences. Wouldn't even be surprised to see the real right wing hillbilly types trying to weave 'God's Way' into it somehow given the victims. Donald Trump trying to make political capital already....classy

Reports that he saw 2 men kissing and was so offended he went on a gun rampage.

So, another fucking lunatic not a terrorist. His Muslim name is incidental

Not if reports he called 911 and swore allegiance to ISIS it isn't

Meanwhile, the Donald says he 'accepts the congratulations on being right on Islamic radicalisation', no mention of the 50 who have been killed.
To think this man could be the most powerful man in the world. Shudder.

That's the issue with American system though with their bicameral system change is hamstrung by the 2nd amendment screeching Republicans holding majorities in Congress and the House of Reps even the most determined of Presidents faces a huge challenge in forcing through gun control.

Hmmm

I would have thought shooting "gays" would have appealed to that cunt Trump

I don't like him. I try to keep it quiet but it sometimes slips out

Daesh have said they would attack on the American mainland, and sadly it appears they have done so, albeit aided by the inadequate American gun laws.

I would wait until the investigation proves it has anything to do with IS other than a nutter using them as his reason rather than being part of them. Also, IS have taken a battering recently so the chance to say "yep that was one of ours" is an easy win for them, even if he wasn't/

Daesh have claimed responsibility for the murders.

A few years back ISIS declared that nobody needed to ask permission to act in their name - even if the phone call turns out to be true it is unlikely that there is a direct line between ISIS and this attack.

Means nothing right now. Like I said, easy for them to do so especially has they have lost a lot of ground in Syria recently and this is an easy opportunity to say they are still around and strong

As the USA have said, they will investigate any links he has to them, if any.

Fair comment. I just felt that with ISIS admitting responsibility so quickly it was probably the case that they were involved.
