Hate to resurrect this thread. An Army veteran has killed at least 5 people in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He legally checked his pistol and ammunition (in separate locked hard-shell containers, per law) before opening fire in a baggage claim.

Usual stuff in the US nowadays.. Bring all guns in just leave hunting weapons and weapon laws need to be tighter.. NRA need to disappear

Wrong president about to be sworn in for anything like that to happen.

If the victims were able to take guns through this wouldn't have happened

Pith is all I've got left unfortunately. The country itself doesn't care enough about change, they'd rather innocent people die than give up their guns. If Sandy Hook didn't force change, under a president that clearly hates guns, it's never, ever going to change.

One person has been killed and 14 injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Awful but not unusual.

I don't think mass gun ownership is necessarily the problem (it certainly doesn't help). I think it's the American physche that is the big issue

Agreed, and to put it into context there was two young lads shot in Barking and Ilford over the last week .

'Murica.

Fuck off.

Who gives a fuck, the Americans with the power to stop this madness obviously don't.

Isn't it at least a mass shooting a day by now? We hear about the big ones but rarely about the smaller "family disputes" etc. that only leave a handful of people shot - still boils down to the same thing though.

When the President's response is 'fortunately somebody else had a gun that was shooting in the opposite direction otherwise it would have been much worse', it tells you all you need to know.

Zach Braff tweeted a list of senators that the NRA donates money too (with Trump being #1)...

Who gives a $#@! ??????????????
Are you serious??

Its not quite on to quote without the caveat:

the Americans with the power to stop this madness obviously don't.

Its sad, but its obvious to everyone how to reduce the shooting but the Americans don't want to do it. All the 'pray for X' crap is just spurious bullshit.

Thankfully these 2 headlines are in no way related...

I feel like writing a whole load of a rant on here this morning but what's the point. It's sad that after living here for a while now this type of news has become something of the norm. ' another one ' is my first thought, 2nd thought ' how many this time '

All this ' Lets pray for (fill in whatever State, City ) and our thoughts are with _______ ' just bollocks.

PRAYING AINT GONNA DO FUCK ALL.

I saw a tweet from a Pastor of a different church on twitter saying all that 'pray for the victims' bollocks. One of the first replies to the tweet was from one of his congregation asking if they would allow him to carry a concealed handgun at future services as it would make him feel a lot safer. Yeah, because that's the answer...
