I know it's not your argument but if this was true then where are all the gun owning heroes who stopped the shooter's?

I can only guess that the response to that would be that it's already too hard to get a gun in this country. Seriously.

If you peruse FB you'll find plenty of comments suggesting arming teachers or placing armed guards/military veterans at every public school.

Word now that the weapon was a legally acquired AR-15, which can be purchased in Florida at the age of 18. Suspect passed the required background check.

What's the background check?
1) Are you 18; Yes
2) Do you live here; Yes
3) Do you intend to go on a mass shooting spree; No...Honest

Yeah, what constitutes a background check in this state (Florida) I don't know, but I don't imagine it is incredibly strict.

We are 6 weeks into the new year,
3 shootings a week
That's one every 2 days roughly!
Written like that it's beyond comprehension or even worse it's one every day and a half, because schools are shut weekends

Yeah, but The UK would have been able to defend itself from terrorist attacks if guns were legal...

What’s the electoral college got to do with it
The system means that in reality it's 4/5 states that decide the Presidency, principally in the rust belt with ironically Florida being another. As per my original post a Democrat on a gun control platform could never carry these States and a Republican would never try to, hence it'll never happen.

Repeal the second amendment under a banner of restoring states rights. You only need 2/3 for ratification.

I used to look upon America with wonder when I was younger but I wouldn't live over there now if you paid me. It's not even high up on my holiday destination list these days. Such a fucked up country. I can't see it ever changing, either.

Such a sad sad situation, I love visiting America but this is getting to often and rediculous. I follow KTNV Channel 13 on facebook and it’s constant posts of shootings around touristy areas of Las Vegas

Lived here 18 years, had some good times, memorable sporting moments, made good friends, but when I move back to England I swear I will never ever want to return, not even if I won a free holiday.

Have we heard from the NRA yet on how if everyone was armed they could have taken the shooter out?

No we have to go through the 24hrs 'showing respect for the dead' period before we get there

8,009 days since a school shooting in the UK. The US have had 18 since the start of 2018.

...and what happened after that shooting? Handguns were banned in the UK, you can own them but they have to be kept at a gun range I believe.

I get the feeling there could be some kind of connection between those two events but I can't quite work it out.

you foreigners don't understand, keep your goddamn hands off my guns, well trained militia, constitutional rights, founding fathers, hunting, family protection !!!!

Guns don't kill people, mentally ill people do. Trump is like a shit member of Goldie Lookin Chain
