The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Keane is fine if he's cheap and replacing Dawson on the bench as 5th choice.

Our starting CBs next season should be Mosquera-Agbadou-Toti/Djiga.

Perhaps I’m being overly optimistic but surely the young French lad should be 5th or 6th choice, depending on which of Bueno and Doherty are still here.

Is this the rumour from the Mail?

I'm going with he was a target in the summer when GO wanted a PL ready defender and we gave him a budget of £10m or less and now will become one of those simple rumours to kick around to fill a word count target.

Being linked with a move for Michael Keane when his contract runs out this summer. Fucking strap yourselves in, boys.

Same age as Dawson when we signed him. Such unimaginative bullshit.

I can't warm to VP, we've played some good stuff at times but it feels like either he walks because Shi breaks more promises or he falls out with the squad as he has form for.

Either way, he's out the door and we end up in the same situation as the last two seasons so what's the point?

In a vacuum, I agree. With the type of injury Yerson sustained, though, I don’t think we should treat him as an inevitable starter. Ideally we bring one in who can properly compete for the place in the XI.

That may be Djiga, but even so, I’d like for us to bring in a starting caliber player there.

I think the wider lack of excitement and hope is playing a big part too, not just the inevitability of his departure.

So with safety all but guaranteed, thoughts turn to the squad and summer window. We'll lose at least three players you'd have thought, so we need a good summer window with no excuses about funds from the powers that be.

Likely
Semedo
Gomes or Andre (unlikely to be both)
Cunha

Possible
Ait-Nouri
Forbs
Sarabia

That's a list of those likely or possible to go.

Vitor might want another RB if his options are Doherty and Lima (who he seemingly doesn't trust to have more than limited minutes).

Gomes could well leave. Unlikely Andre goes so early, and Gomes has been here longer so could be on a promise to go for the right fee.

Cunha will have plenty of suitors even at £60m+.

RAN has been rumoured to be leaving for a while now but will top teams be put off by his defending or tendency to hold onto the ball too long and trying silly tricks? Has his opportunity gone?

Sarabia probably needs to go, but it means finding someone to take on his high wages.

Forbs will probably go back to Ajax. A complete waste of a transfer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

We should be fine for CBs as long as Mosquera comes back ok - Mosquera/Agbadou/Toti/Djiga/Bueno plus Doc to cover.

We probably do need another LWB sooner rather than later even if RAN doesn't go. I'm not sure Rodrigo is a permanent option there and RAN needs competition.

You'd imagine we'll be back in for the type of DM we were linked with early in the Jan window as Vitor seems to want another one, particularly if one of Gomes or Andre leaves. It's seems less and less likely that Traore is a permanent solution, and Doyle isn't quite what we need in there.

Wide forwards will be key positions to replace after Cunha leaves. We haven't got that position right in transfer windows for a few seasons now. Someone who is direct on the ball but can put a decent cross in would be nice.

Isn't Sarabia out of contract?
Yep, already agreed to sign for Sevilla if rumours are to be believed.

I think RAN will go to Liverpool. They don't ask too much of their full backs defensively. The first £9m goes on paying off his sell on clause though.

United will be looking for wing backs as well.

Aït-Nouri will have been with us for 5 seasons after this one is done with, he'll be wanting to move on anyway.

I slated the Hugo Bueno loan at the start of the season and no question it's left us short but he seems to have had a successful season there. I think it'd be fair for the club to sell Aït-Nouri, spend the funds elsewhere and back Bueno & Rodrigo to play LWB.

I can see them doing similar on the other side with Hoever & Lima unfortunately. I feel a lot less confident about that side.

Is there a world where Cunha stays?
I think that's largely going to depend on him. If it's a Champion's League club meeting our valuation, I can't see him not taking that chance (and I couldn't really blame him, honestly).

So, IMV probably 90:10::Go:Stay, unfortunately.

Lets hope it's not Forest.
