The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Went to West Park Hospital this morning for a 4yr hearing reassessment, after tests the Audiologist said as her next appointment was cancelled she’d sort my new hearing aid out and get get it programmed while I wait.
Got myself a new dogs bollocks Bluetooth hearing aid, fucking brilliant.
Thank you NHS.
A bit of advice for those still at work who work in a noisy environment, I spent virtually the whole of my working life in manufacturing, there was never any PPE available until the last few years before I retired.
If you’re involved in noisy environments or go to loud gigs at anytime, protect your hearing or you’ll wake up one morning with fucking tinnitus and fucked up hearing.

I wore PPE in the factory for sure. With one ear already deaf no way I was losing all the gearing in the other one.

I go to a lot of gigs and only recently started wearing the specialist ear plugs but the difference the day after has been noticeable.

Might start wearing them at the football as well as have noticed my ears ringing slightly after the game from time to time.

Interesting, the Noise at Work Regs were introduced in 1989 requiring employers to provide hearing protection...

The Company I worked for, large Aerospace, only started providing ear plug dispensers at the start of this Century as far as I can remember and that’s being generous.

Most places I worked at from 82 onwards provided ear protection, enforced useage of them wasn't a thing and most people including me never bothered. I suffer a bit now, all my own fault, also riding motorbikes and going to rock gigs for 45+ years without ear protection didn't help.

Yeah that’s the thing, while protective eye wear and safety shoes were compulsory and subject to disciplinary action if not worn, ear protection was not really bothered with.

Advertised I believe

I gave up before I got below 100,000 in the queue but the wife stayed in the queue she got in at around 24,000 and she wouldn't pay the stupid prices

I’ve tried again since. Apparently I’m a bot now.

I had that as well. Finally managed to log in and went to join the actual queue. Told me I was a bot, so hit the back button..join the queue again and it let me.

On my phone, it waited until it was my turn to shop for tickets before telling me. 😡

Off to the Ibis at Birmingham Airport tomorrow afternoon for the night with a 7am flight to Faro on Tuesday morning for a last little bit of all inclusive summer at Olhas de Agua before the grim greyness of an English winter arrives.
Looks like I’ll also be having to endure the grim greyness of Saturday afternoons at Molineux.
On the plus side, we’re off to Barbados at the beginning of next year but more on that at a later date. 😉

Can't go wrong with The Algarve, you will love it and it's a very relaxing place whether you choose to travel all over (as I do) or chill by a pool (as I know you are)

Fair play fella, you know what you like and are going for it. Have a great time.

This morning the missus decided she wanted to go to the seaside as we haven't got round to it so far this year, so off to Llandudno we went. Sunny and warm, it was a good day.
Can anything be so British?
Fish and chips sat on the sea wall,
Walk up the pier for a coffee,
Walk up the beach eating ice cream,
Fight with a couple of Gulls.

It’s great there. Not been this year.

Edit - that said I did meet Johnson there in 2016 in his brexit bus so is sadly irredeemably tainted.
