Pleased I wasn't running a marathon today (aside from not having trained for one...) every step of my 5 miler was accompanied by an internal soundtrack of the new Cunha song, it got a bit wearing 🤣

I’ve just started to run 3 miles every Saturday morning. I have the upmost respect for those that have run a marathon but, seriously, 26 miles? Fuck that :ROFLMAO:

Having now gotten myself back up to 5km (semi regularly) I have decided the next best thing to do is sign up for the Nottingham half in September.

It's actually 10 years since my one and only time running it this year, so what better way to mark it by doing it again. Maybe this time I will actually train beforehand though and not just rely on my young naivety and stupidity to get me round like before. God I miss being 24.

My wife and kids volunteered at parkrun this morning so I got to run it on my own (previously I have ran it with my daughter). My PB running with Belle was 34.46 but today I ran it in 29.54. I wanted to be under 30 mins so I’m chuffed I was 6 seconds under!

My partner decided it would be a good idea to do a 'run every day in May' challenge. Sometimes it might only be 3-4k, sometimes 11-12k, but so far I'm managing it. I went from May last year to March this year really struggling with a succession of chest infections, colds, and injuries, so this is a big ramp up in terms of volume of exercise for me. I've gone from 2 or 3 runs per week (at best), to running every day. She on the other hand, is using it as a gentle kickstart to her New York Marathon training.

Well done lads, I couldn't run a mile at the moment let alone 26.
Not everyone likes to run or are comfortable with it .

Personally I find it great for a whole variety of reasons , and in fact walking would tick a lot of the same boxes .

Running isn't for everyone , but walking should be I would think .

At the midway point in my 'run every day in May' challenge, this is what I've managed. I'd like 1 or 2 longer runs in there, but my knees are starting to grumble and where I live is bastard hilly, so only want to do a longer one when I have chance to get to somewhere flat!Screenshot_20240516_191518_Samsung Health.jpg

Raining today so thought I’d do have a go on the treadmill. 40 mins of an easy pace later and I felt like I was going to die, dripping with sweat. No idea why treadmill running is so flipping hard.

I run on a treadmill for 40 mins 5 days a week, I always run at 12k for 30 secs then walk at 6.3k for 60 secs, body ain’t happy at first but after ten mins everything starts to get loose, second wind etc and it’s not bad after that and yes I also drip with sweat, have to virtually scrape my top off.
Feel great after though, something to do with endorphins they reckon.

I’d rather run 20 miles outside than 20 mins on the treadmill.

I’ve never run outside, I was going to the Gym pre pandemic and it stems from there I suppose, bought a treadmill and been going on it ever since.
Each to their own I suppose.

Running outside on a fresh day is amazing.

I'd much rather run outside. The only caveat to that is that I hate running in windy weather and I hate running up hills. Which is a problem as I live in a village at the top of a hill in the Tyne Valley and which ever direction I run in there are absolute bastard hills!

I dislike treadmills, I find it really monotonous.

Don't mind a hill, mind you my legs are in bits today after the Northallerton 10k which has a lengthy, fairly steep incline early on (the the equivalent steep downhill later on).

Really please with my time though, I was hoping for sub 1 but I'm a bit over weight and didn't feel my training had gone too well - knocked out a 53.49 chip time!

Our Friday night footie resumes tomorrow night, first time since last October. We have played Friday night's since about 2006 and grown from lads in our 30s to blokes in our 50s with some of the sons and their mates also joining up. Age range is I think 18 to 69!

We have been short on numbers the past few months, not least because Steve the organiser sadly passed away last June and one of his twin sons did his ACL.

I'm expecting to be rustier than a 1970s Fiat!

Just over a year ago my daughter decided to try the keto diet, in support of her journey, i decided to loose a bit of weight too
This time last year i was close to 250lbs, after completely transforming our (my) diet and joining a local gym for cardio, weighed myself this morning and broke my goal of 200lbs at 199.1lbs
Next goal 180lb :)

Completed my run every day in May challenge. I'm looking forward to a couple of days rest now, but will be aiming for a minimum of 5 runs per week from now on. A bit disappointed that I didn't get to 170k, but I didn't realise how close I was until too late, and I really couldn't be arsed to go back out for less than 1k to get there! 😂
