Summer '23True!
Did Doherty really only have a year left, I thought we had him tied down for longer than that
The players need a rest, I would like the players to get 2 months off, but they wont most of Our players will go to the Euros.
Hopefully Portugal will go out early, and the players can hit the beach.
What's the alternative? This does concern me.
We're pinning so much on everyone getting a rest and having a mental reset, but the Euros are, what, three weeks after the PL season ends?
And then the new PL season starts a month after the Euros.
That all may be enough time for Nuno to sort his head out and plot a new course, doesn't seem a lot of time to work with players though, especially as many will be absent or brand new to the club
Just having a proper pre-season programme will still make a difference (IMO). It will just be like in 2018 after the world cup, which is fine I think. This does concern me.

It is a huge difference this year, even with the euros.Hang on mate, I'll have my masterplan ready in a sec
I'm just saying, we've all put a lot of the blame on the quick season turnaround last time and lack of Nuno prep, and viewed the end of the season with a sense of relief, but it doesn't look significantly better to me. It's a concern imo.
I don't want him playing at the Olympics but in theory he shouldn't have the same level of burnout as others due to his injury break.Raul and the Olympics would bother me more.
I trust your expectations will be adjusted accordinglyHang on mate, I'll have my masterplan ready in a sec

No, but the season starts a week after the finalI don't want him playing at the Olympics but in theory he shouldn't have the same level of burnout as others due to his injury break.
Put it this way, I won't be looking at it as a reason for us starting the season badly if we do. The coaching staff have a proper chance to plan ahead, even if the conditions (i.e. not being able to go abroad ) aren't ideal, there's a real chance to use it to get back on track. Thanks fellas, feel slightly reassured now you put it like that![]()
No, but the season starts a week after the final
We've said he won't go if he hasn't played for us first, so seems a no brainer to not do so this seasonSorry but I hadn't looked at the timetable for the Olympics.
If we are going to let him go but aren't planning on using him this season then we could pack him off on his holidays earlier.
