Wolves Internationals

It's also not helping that he has a player with zero footballing intelligence in front of him. He's blocking up all the space that he might potentially be able to move into.

Couple of times he's been done by a quick bit of interplay down his side but Georgia haven't taken advantage. It's basically 2016 Doc, but two stone lighter and he actually tries.

Nice little run there, beat a couple of men and got to the byline...but no left foot as we well know (bar that crazy goal vs Fulham).

I'm not even an Irishman and McClean makes me rage with how absolutely shit he is. Parks level stuff.

The opposing RB just schooled Doc, one simple dummy opened up a ton of space, again nothing made of it.

I just don't get the mindset, he isn't a full back now, no more than Coady is a central midfielder. Don't pick him there, they must have one other left back.

Doherty has been the best Irish International domestically for the last 2 years, so I guess there's pressure from the Irish press to play him. With 4 @ the back and the captain at right back I wouldn't bother though. He's now picked him to play right wing and left back when we know he's not up to much in either position

Sick to the back teeth for last 12 months telling people this. There is pressure from press and public but they clearly never seen him actually play there, all they is how he is performing for us at RWB and see that he won player of the year when at left back, put 2 & 2 together.

Saying that Mick should have known better.

As for this game, pure shite.

he won player of the year when at left back

This was an absolute travesty :icon_lol:

I'm not having a go at him by any measure, this is the absolute limit of my expectations in that position so far. Don't make any ridiculous errors, try properly, don't get caught up the pitch and have no chance of getting back. It's all you'll ever get. When Ireland get the ball at the back here, he's about 50 yards deeper than he is for Wolves and on the wrong side, it's nonsense.

Wow had they won they would have been in a great position too really with two tough games left

Isn’t Enda Stevens normally the starting LB? Not sure where he was.

Suspended for this game.

Incidentally James McClean lost possession 26 times in this match.

26. About once every three and a half minutes.

What is his claim to fame, exactly? I don't remember him pulling up trees at any club.

Being extremely irish.

His main real claim is his refusal to wear the poppy, which gets people all sorts of bent out of shape. Says nothing about his playing prowess at all, which is mediocre at best.

Did well at Sunderland when he first broke through for about half a season, not a fan of poppies, makes cowardly leg breaking style tackles

Runs in perfectly straight lines, like on Super Cup football.

He didn't as he's not a left back and Enda Stevens is.

He did ok, within reason because you can't judge him on this. Park Conor Coady in midfield for England and I doubt he'll be lighting up the place.

Probably would have been an improvement on what Rice, Hendo and Mount served up last night to be fair!

Donck not on the bench again. If it's illness its knocked him about
