Wolves Internationals

Rui, Mout, Neves and Jota all called by Portugal.

That’s fantastic

Nuno is a bloody genius.

I’ll change to the right thread then!

Traore called up by Spain with the Mali rumours circulating. Think Spain are trying to nab him and lock him In in case he becomes a world beater.

It's great news for him, but does come from the Welsh playbook. Watch him play the last 5 mins of one of the qualifiers.

Well, congratulations, Adama. Absolutely delighted for you

He is starting to look like an £18m player (which lest we forget, is what we paid) rather than a £1m pup, as was the case six months ago (you cannot overstate how bad he looked at times). Which is great and all that, and he definitely brings a dimension to our play that we need at the moment, but we still need more. For an attacking player to score 3 in 55 is pretty terrible, he's only down for one assist in the league too (Palace, you could argue Everton too for the Saiss goal although officially it won't count as his cross actually went to Coleman) so he needs to maintain that progress and push on.

Spain have definitely done this on the back of the Mali talk, can't blame them, that's the game.

If 3 in 55 is pretty terrible, doesn't say much for MGW...

Now now Norman, let's not deal in whataboutery (MGW does also need to do much more of course)

I just think people get a bit giddy with Adama. 1) Because he's a unique player (literally no-one plays like him, and it is exciting to watch when he gets it right) 2) Because he was totally crap last year and is actually worth a shirt this year (see this week's discussion on POTS and how our fans tend to pick "most improved" rather than "best", when the latter is the actual question). He's doing quite well. Let's hope he continues to progress from that mark.

It’s a bit disingenuous to wang off on some threads about Raul’s great record this season, with most being in the Europa, but then castigate Traore for the same because he hasn’t been as successful in the league.

Where have I done that?

I actually don't think Raul has been at his best so far (but it will come). I think the closest you'll get is me saying that he's a genuine candidate for being the best penalty taker in the world, which regardless of form, he is.

I don’t mean you specifically, but just in general. Personally I think Adama can still improve quite a bit, but he has definitely already improved in his end product.

Raul has 4 in 11 in the league with 2 assists. Compare that to 2 in 11 for Adama with 1 assist.

Not really disingenuous at all to say Raul has been twice the player Adama has ;)

Compare Adama's output to Pulisic, Zaha, Aubameyang, Martial, Son, Salah, Sterling, Duelofeu and others if you like as they all play in a similar position instead.

He may be improving but he is nowhere near the output we need for a player to be classed in the same bracket as our very own Jota.

Congratulations to him for getting in the Spain squad.

Absolutely and he probably is twice the player.

I think he can improve too (whereas let's say Cav was already at his ceiling when we got rid of him).

Physically he's a freak. Slowly he's learning how to play football - there have been some passes (not crosses) this season that have shown genuine thought and promise. He's actually linking with players now and then.

He was bloody awful last season though and if the herd are going to fawn over players just because they've improved from a very low base, I'm going to be contrary and frown upon them for longer than I should because they fucking annoyed me for far too long :D

Not sure Jota, with 1 goal and 0 assists in the league, is one to compare with using stats.. still a much better player and illustrates the problems with judging players by stats alone.

Agreed.

But 3 in 55 is objectively dreadful.

Probably the most pleasing thing have been the 2 reverse passes to Doc for assists of an assist. Genuinely quality passes with a lot of intelligence behind them.
