Wolves Academy Thread

4-3-3 probably, Armstrong and Collins either side of Wilson, Herc the more advanced of the midfield three.

Mega collapse. Got back to 1-1 through Collins (sounds like a belting finish), still 1-1 at 83 minutes...lost 4-1.

Where's Sherwin? In the squad for tomorrow perhaps...

Morgan is starting against Brazil in the Semi-Final.

Gibbs-White starting against Brazil in U17WC semis. 85,000 people there apparently! 1-1 25 minutes in

2-1 to England now.

Gibbs not really featuring much at the mo

This is much better than watching the England first team, we're playing some nice stuff, Gibbs-White looks good

Watched this - a pleasure to watch an England team playing good football. Playing as a team & working to a proper plan

Foden looked more than a bit useful.

MGW aquitted himself well without being outstanding - some very intelligent runs off the ball to open space up at the front and a couple of times a quicker release of the ball would have put him in on goal

Won't be able to watch the final as up at the QPR match then

Agree totally

What really pisses me off, is these players will be dumped for sub standard foreign players, there development will be fucked.

Whilst no one has an Issue with the likes of Aguero, Jota, Neves, and the top quality players coming in, but it's the cheap players that are stunting the growth of home grown players that really irks......

any number of teams in the Prem, and indeed in the Championship are littered with them.....

MGW really should return from this tournament, and be straight into the match day squad, on the bench and getting minutes in the first team.

And he will get his chance. He may have to be patient for it, but by all accounts Nuno rates him doesn't he?

I'd say that assessment is at least 20 years out of date, probably more.

Have a look at Stoke's squad (and they're currently not very good, and don't really play any of their own youth), what "cheap" foreign players do they have? They're all fairly high profile.

He's had some games already & he's only 17

As long as he continues to develop then he will get chances. Not that many break through into first team regulars at that age even in the Championship

They tend to prove a point there has to better young English players than

Zouma
Cameron
Pieters
Martins Indi
Jese

The premier league is littered with with sub standard foreign players restricting the growth of the young English talent, that seems to be amongst the best in the world, especially when you take notice of the Junior England teams performance.

The fans are as much to blame, they want it now, they are not prepared to accept a period of growth, they will demand managers head if they lose a few games, so go and buy the finished player from abroad than invest in a young English player.

Zouma - French international, was in Chelsea's team on merit before he got injured
Cameron - Has done a good job for Stoke for five seasons now
Pieters - Dutch international signed from PSV, again has been a good PL performer for a long time
Martins Indi - I happen to think he is shit but he's not low profile, played in the Dutch's run to the World Cup semi final and came from Porto
Jese - Ex-Real Madrid and PSG, how is he cheap?!

These are not crappy little £500k Scandinavian fillers that I will accept were dotted around in the early-mid 90s. That doesn't happen any more and that's why your argument is hopelessly outdated.

The Premier League is not "littered with sub standard foreign players", you go through every single team and you will struggle to find examples of that (unless you want to make them fit your argument as you have done with those five Stoke players against all evidence and reason). There is no way there are six better English left backs than Erik Pieters for instance. And as Stoke aren't in the top six, what would you like them to do? Play some shithouse because of the colour of his passport?

Underage football is not that reliable an indicator. James Ward-Prowse looked a world beater for the U21s. He's deeply average when you put him in a proper game. Have a look at Zeli Ismail closer to home.

I agree. How many times have we seen young players touted as the next Pele/Maradonna/Messi/Ronaldo aged 12/13/14/15 but never went on to make it in the man's game (for whatever reason).
