Wolves 3-2 Man City: Delicious Double Verdict

I don't quite get the criticism for Mendy and Otamendi, they are not bad defenders

Mendy is gone, one injury too many, he can't run. Even though he was playing left back they put Benny Silva on Traore to protect him. He'll be out in the Summer if they can find someone to cover his wages.

Otamendi has always been a liability. Look at our first against City away and our last yesterday on both he needlessly goes to ground and lets his man go by.

Still haven't overcome last night. Such an epic comeback.

Been wearing my beanie around Bruges today and someone shouted "WOLVES!! BEAT CITYYY"

Priceless

I think the world is beginning to properly know about us...

As Doog said earlier, PGMOL's own stupid directives. Same as the handball nonsense (where Willy Boly can commit the exact same offence but the punishment is different depending which end of the pitch he's at).

How the fuck they think any of them benefit the game, I don't know. Just use the same rules as everyone else in the world, you weirdos.
Aye, not defending the decision, but it seems they're trying to make it a binary decision. Mahrez gets his reward for a flamboyant dive which is, annoyingly, the type of cheating that VAR should be used to punish.

Dermot Gallagher was saying on Prime last night that any step on the attackers foot is a pen. New law/directive this year I think.

Exactly the sort of lack-and-white, nuance-free bullshit that’s crippling the game. See also the bloody stupid handball rule that robbed us against Leicester.

The trouble isn’t (just) VAR, it’s the raft of stupid new rules they’ve brought in to try and make it work.

What a game. Still letting it all sink in. I'm way out in the wilds in Donegal so I was watching it on some foreign TV channel who didn't even spot Donk's accidental foot stomp. Once they zoned in on that it was a penalty. We'd be livid if that wasn't given for diogo getting stomped the same way, accidental or not. Not sure you can fault Sterling for his celebration, I mean, we've never had a player scream in front opposition fans have we? Throwing coins in this day and age is barbaric and I'd support a stadium ban for anyone caught doing it. What's next? Back to the days of razor blades in oranges? Lesser teams would have crumbled after going 2 down last night, even t o 10 men. But we are finding leaders all over the pitch. The way Adama grabbed the ball and planted it back on the centre spot was a clear indication that if anyone thought we were dead and buried there were group of men in gold that didn't agree. We weren't looking for a face saving draw, we were going for,and would take all 3 points. We have Nuno to thank for building a team that is far greater than the sum of its parts, and a group of players for some of the most memorable results in my lifetime. This team arguably the best in my lifetime does not know how to give up. We are a genuine top 6 side, that others quite rightly fear. And there is still more to come from them. Merry Christmas indeed.

Neither will I probably, more considered in the morning. Won’t change the fact that VAR ruins matches, 2 games this season where I haven’t felt engaged with the game.

That’s just random. Didn’t think he did much wrong, the VAR stuff wasn’t his fault and it was Mahrez who dived. He’s a fantastic player, and was very magnanimous at the end.

All of the above is quite true. Still detest the little twot though, as is my right. Felt the same about Billy Bremner, just one of those faces I'd like to smack. And then run of course!

The dive is irrelevant, they watch the replay and they see Dendoncker treading on his foot so they have a decision to make.

my mom was in town over the holidays. from texas, watches football, never really had reason/interest in watching futbol

took her out to my fav wings bar to have some beers and good food while watching the game. what a way to introduce her to the sport. :icon_lol:

And PGMOL have made that a penalty, not FIFA who sort of make the laws of the game.

IFAB, to be precise, although FIFA are 50% of it.

More VAR bullshit to rule out a Pukki goal for Norwich against Spurs. Totally sick of this bollocks

If standing on a foot is deemed a penalty that's fine but there is no way that caused Mahrez to take off like a diver on the 3m springboard. Atkinson saw he dived and we could have ended up with a situation where the penalty was legitimate but the player also gets a yellow for simulation. I think the majority of the crowd saw he dived and that is why so many were incandescent with rage when VAR awarded the penalty.

Where from in Texas mate? I live in The Woodlands [ex Bushbury and Coseley] about 30 miles north of Houston.

Mahrez stuck his right foot out and backwards to find a contact, they will be wearing clown shoes soon.

Perfect example of why they dive was the Traore/Mendes challenge. If Mendes had dropped like a stone the ref would have blown for a push in the back, without doubt. He just didn't think quick enough is all.

I'm familiar with the woodlands, have a good friend who lives down in that neighborhood/area. she's in austin though. :)
