Wolves 2 v 1 Liverpool: The Third Round Verdict

They played on it 2 weeks prior. Couldn't have been that much of a shock to them.

"I should do better. The pitch all night was a bit tricky and lively. It's the same for both teams.
“It was my mistake for the first goal and it's cost us, if not it's 1-1 and we get a replay.
"It was a pretty good finish from their lad but they didn't have many chances.
“We didn't either but that's what separated the teams, my mistake and a very good finish for the second go"

From that the headlines took the tricky and lively bit. Something from nothing

Complete lack of self-awareness for Spiers to be bitching about click-baity headlines, mind :icon_lol:

I'll let him off as it makes Jinky look a bit silly.

It's been pointed out to him more than once he really complain about click bait headlines

Not really. Although I admit I only saw the headline. Moaning about "the wind" and "the pitch" does come across as a bit of a joke, though. Didn't Pep moan about the ball after our game with them? And Pochettino said they were "tired" after we beat them at Wembley (even though they won the 4 games prior to that and the two straight after). The top managers don't come across as very gracious in defeat at all. They can't have all had an "off day" when we got a result with them.

Anyway, in Klopp's defence, I've also been alerted to the full post match interview with him (by a Liverpool mate of mine) and he actually does give Wolves some credit. I've seen a lot of people saying he didn't mention Wolves at all (including Judah) and lots of Wolves fans crying about Klopp being ungracious in defeat - but he actually said "Wolves dealt with that (the wind) better than us and deserved the win".

Proper professional! Great interview "That's what I'm there for...." great quote

I cant think of us ever having 2 better goalkeepers at the same time. Hennesey and Hahnnemann were good but neither are as good as either of those

The oldies would say Parkes and Pierce I guess.

Murray and Oakes around 2002 was a good combo, I would still take Murray over Rui.

Not sure I would agree about the first comment - Parkes was very good, but Pierce had his day in the sun in the 74 league cup final and one reasonable season after that

Pretty sure I wouldn't list Pierce in our top 5 keepers during the time I have seen them

Murray
Patricio
Hennessey
Ruddy
Stowell

For me

Agreed. I was only thinking this exact thought on Mon watching Ruddy tip that free kick onto the post.

Murray
Patricio
Hennessey
Ruddy
Stowell

For me

Would put Ruddy above Hennessey - the top two are right but have to think about the others

Then again I've been around longer than some so Bert Williams is in there (only just caught the very tail end of his time with us, but did see him play - not enough to put him above your top 2 but better than the others)

Patrício

Murray

Hennessey

Ruddy

Hahnemann

Martinez

Stowell

Kuszszak

Norris

Ikeme

Oakes

De Vries

Postma

Budtz

Burgoyne

McCarey

Jones

Lonergan

Dunno if I've missed anyone.

*Edited. Can't ever remember watching Segers so missed him out.

Dunno if I've missed anyone.

Ikeme (I would have him around the de Vries/Postma level personally)

I like Jan Budtz and I cannot lie

Emi Martinez

Kuszczak

England's Will Norris

Segers

Andy FlapFlap Marshall

Edited now. Missed out Segers though who I don't think I ever saw play.

You saw the FA Cup semi final :icon_lol:

since 1964, even though I have a real soft spot for Mark Kendall here are my top 10

Patricio-has to be him - international and real pedigree.
Second/Third place-Tie! Ruddy/ Murray. The fag paper between them is Matt Murrays biscuit legs! No england cap either so its a toss up!
Wayne Hennesey
Mike Stowell
Marcus Hahnemann
Paul Bradshaw- U23 International
Michael Oakes
Gary Pierce- for that League Cup final
Carl Ikeme

No Phil Parkes?

Murray was eons better than Ruddy.

That duffed kick is the root cause of many a nightmare over the last 20 years.
