Wolves 2 v 1 Liverpool: The Third Round Verdict

Jenas annoyed me on the co-comms last night. So little thought and work done on our team ahead of the game that was shown when we put Doc on for Jonny. Clear what we are doing there as Doc will push Moreno back (plus he is shit) as he will get further up the pitch than Jonny and run at Liverpool but no apparently we are making that change to be more solid in defence as Liverpool push forward.

He was awful all night Jenas, didn’t have a clue about most of our players or how we play.

A mention for Cav:
I could see him but I don't think our players could, got in some great positions and ...............

Overall a great night out. I rewatched it on TV in full when I got back and it seemed like a different game.

I am not a snowflake but as a 55yr old I would ask people to stop singing that "sign on" song. Really it aint clever.

Agreed. It wasnt funny then, its not funny now.

The sign on shite is totally embarrassing. Makes us look like daytrippers from League 2, not supporters of a top-end Prem team. Get rid.

Shearer took him apart though

Yep, I really like Shearer when he's ripping into someone's performance.

And to be fair, it was near the start of the game that Steve Wilson was saying how brilliant Sturridge is and what an amazing scoring record he has blah blah blah.

He did back that up with how injury prone he is. His scoring record is very good though but his attitude stunk last night.

An aside point, pleased with the result and performance, but what is with our crossing? Can we do some extra training please... our strikers can't be clinical when the ball doesn't even reach them.

Yeah Vinny had a couple times when he could've put the ball in early first time where Raul only had 1 man around him...could potentially have had a couple decent chances. Still, he'll learn.

If anyone's feeling lucky Paddy Power (as an example, not endorsing them by any means) have us joint 6th favourite (with Everton and West Ham..?) to win the thing at 14/1. Mind you we're longer than both Man Utd and Arsenal and one of them will def be out if we get through...

That, and when we do cross (no picking on anyone in particular, it's all our wide players at fault here) it's flat or overhit or straight to the opposition. Vinagre is probably one of the better crossers, but waits a bit more than others - happy that he'll learn.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bX-ZZzdEZA We are really lucky to have Ruddy at our club I think.

excellent professional. Just the sort of person a squad needs. Honest, reliable and capable. Really unlucky to have Patricio in front of him but fair play to him for battling it out.

yep. was a quality strike and one of the best saves i've seen for a while. shaqiri couldn't quite believe it

Anything that pisses Shaquiri off is a result.

polling closed, neves smashed it

Interesting that the original BBC poll was 8 goals and only covered up to Sunday and then they added in Neves this morning. That's how good a goal it was.

After Klopp whining about "the wind", I see James Milner has come out today moaning about our pitch. Called it "lively". Ok, James.

Have to say, between Klopp, Milner & the way their fans have reacted to Monday night, it's no surprise so many people want to see Liverpool fail. Terrible losers and not gracious in defeat at all.

Tons of their fans being gracious and saying they'd love Wolves to go on and win it as love our style of play though. Was in response to our FB feed and twitter that I saw most of that.

Was this what Spiers was referring to on Twitter earlier? Just clickbait nonsense. Milner owned up to his mistake and took responsibility according to Timbo.

"I should do better. The pitch all night was a bit tricky and lively. It's the same for both teams.
“It was my mistake for the first goal and it's cost us, if not it's 1-1 and we get a replay.
"It was a pretty good finish from their lad but they didn't have many chances.
“We didn't either but that's what separated the teams, my mistake and a very good finish for the second go"

From that the headlines took the tricky and lively bit. Something from nothing
