Wolves 2 v 1 Liverpool: The Third Round Verdict

Was it about this time last year the Neves kicked on and started scoring a bit more regularly?

I liked the look of Liverpool's Hoever, he cleaned up well at the back, but struggled in the corners.

Yes couldn't be faulted for not 'picking up' either. Would make a good sweeper.

Fairly comfortable win, except for the last twenty minutes or so after Salah and Firminho came on. Thought we made hard work of it for ourselves to be honest and could have been out of sight before then with a bit more care with the final ball.
Thought Dendonker did ok and will get sharper with more game time. Raul M.O.M. for me. What a save from Ruddy! Would Rui have reached that? Doubtful.

Just checked and 5 of his 6 goals came after December 15th.

Rui would have made that, has made better saves already.

Cracking win and nice to see Ruddy, Vinny and co doing so well. Interesting Neves mentioning the Prem ball hopefully he can get used to it as we could do with a few more of those, beautiful hit.

Raul - MOTM just absolutely everywhere, I really hope we make this one permanent.

"Certainly there is no reason for them not to do so (have a good cup run) with this result meaning they have also now either beaten or taken points from all the so-called ‘Big Six’ in the league or cup since being promoted.
They are an admirable team." (Daily Telegraph)

That's the best praise I have seen for us all season. I like us being an 'admirable' team.

Jenas annoyed me on the co-comms last night. So little thought and work done on our team ahead of the game that was shown when we put Doc on for Jonny. Clear what we are doing there as Doc will push Moreno back (plus he is shit) as he will get further up the pitch than Jonny and run at Liverpool but no apparently we are making that change to be more solid in defence as Liverpool push forward.

Liverpool's so called 'B' team cost £150 million to put together.

More than our entire squad.

Jenas was appalling. So blinkered in favour of Liverpool, spent the time after we scored our first discussing milner's lack of passing options and didnt even mention we scored a goal. Came across as very backward looking tactically too. Shame really, as the BBC coverage is usually quite good.

After a slow start, I was really pleased with that - the 2nd half performance was very good with a lot of positives.

Neves was excellent, Vinagre really surprised me with how assured he looked, Jota was a menace and Raul was my MOTM but I think John Ruddy deserves a lot of praise too. It can't be easy losing your place after such a great season (and the abuse he got at times last year was beyond laughable), but the way he gets behind the players, the high fives as each of his team mates enters the dressing room etc is just class. There's not been a single word of discontent for him - even though I'm sure he'd love to be playing more regularly. Last night, he did really well - commanded his area well, made a quite ridiculous save from Shakiri's free kick (I don't care if Rui would have saved it too - he wasn't playing, Ruddy was and deserves the credit). Nothing he could do with their goal either.

Hopefully Rui stays free of injury but if anything was to happen to him, I've no concerns with Ruddy coming into the side.

Nuno has to take huge praise for the attitude from those that don't play. Whatever he does or how he speaks to them works some sort of magic. We don't get stroppy players and keep a unit of players happy even though they will be hugely pissed off they have to sit out most weeks.

We have seen it Cups over the last 10 years where we put in players who don't play and our performances were disjointed and shit (see Liverpool for an example of that, especially in Sturridge), yet under Nuno when he has made changes the players have generally put on a decent display.

On Ruddy - We are spoilt with having him as 2nd choice. Look around the Prem and there is some utter shite as back up keeper options.

Sturridge was an absolute disgrace last night :icon_lol:

Gary Madine levels of threat.

Yet the commentators were saying how valuable he is!

Are you here all week and should I try the chicken?

He was awful all night Jenas, didn’t have a clue about most of our players or how we play.
