Wolves 2-3 West Brom: Verdict Thread

Can we pack Nuno off to Portugal for a few weeks and leave SS in charge for Chorley?

Is the whole of his family back in portugal, how often they visit normally?
Just his son is here at university. The rest of his family are in Portugal, and they don't come here.

Ok so with a ballon throw in they will smash a volley in the near post right? Better chance saving it standing a bit more to the centre of rhe goal
The point is you have no idea who's going to win the ball or where its going to drop when the ball is coming from that side, so you play the percentages and cover that side of your goal.

Aah ok, guess that affect you a lot mentally, if youre not made of stone...and Nuno isnt

The whole Wolves ethos is everything together as a family. Eat together, mix together. This pandemic is eating into everything the team does as a family. It's no wonder they are suffering as a team.

How would you cope in his situation? Heavy pressured job a long way from home and family no chance of seeing them in the near future in the middle of pandemic.
I doubt he’s not the only having trouble with this either.
You don't know my situation any more than I do yours, so let's not speculate on that please.

There's being empathetic, but making it a big, emotional blackmail issue every game is just weird and too much imo.

I'm sure being an elite football manager is tough and stressful full stop. I feel for all of them, especially those with family overseas. I just think it's been added to the list of excuses and it's overdone, especially as it's all guesswork.

No one would be clutching at these straws if we were 7th

It would me hugely. It's affecting me that i haven't been anywhere but work and sleep for 10 months. But i have seen my close family. Nuno must be really struggling without seeing his.

Look, i have played football most of my life and for me, he was too far against the left post for that throw in..corner/freekick, another thing

Cause and effect though ay it? I don't think we can dismiss it out of hand when the evidence appears obvious

Yes, of course

I don't think it's emotional blackmail, just true. Most other managers in the Premier League have been here long enough to have moved their families over here and settled (or have been on the carousel long enough to have families over here).

All suffering is relative, and to suggest our squad aren't is exactly why some people just don't open up about their mental health.

C'mon... plenty of things get dismissed on here when they appear obvious if it suits.

Like I said, I hope he can find the strength/help to set an example and get his managerial shit together, there are some kids in his team that are probably in the same boat as him and don't have his age or experience to help them through

It's not true that he is having mental health issues, it's speculation.

Please don't guilt trip me or make out I don't take mental health seriously.

I'm saying it's being overused here, especially when more tangible contributions to our current predicament are often downplayed

For Nuno specifically he is not a robot. He's human, and i personally empathise with him in his situation right now. As a big family man he will be missing his family in a big way. That can affect everything you do, whether it's highly paid or not. It's clear he is struggling mentally with the whole challenge of this pandemic. Having a high pressure job makes it doubly worse. Being THE man in charge worse still, as he has no-one to help with his day to day decisions. I think he certainly needs some support at this time. Hopefully that is coming from the club itself.

Erm the phrase was in “Nuno situation” not sure I mentioned anything about yours.
If we were 7th the evidence would suggest this situation wasn’t effecting him.
It’s neither exonerating from responsibility it’s merely a point that it’s not helping he’s even said in many pressers how the current situation is having an effect on everyone.

If you don't think it's an issue and is an excuse that's up to you

I think it has been affecting his performance and his quotes in the media and mannerisms suggest he is suffering. I too hope he can find the strength he needs, lord knows everyone is looking to him for answers now.

He has said himself he's finding it hard so I disagree that it is speculation.

There are tangible contributions, but I think this is contributing to those. This is a close knit squad who currently can't see each other outside of "work" - they can't even go to a supermarket, and one of their closest friends suffered a potentially life threatening injury. They're feeling it as much as the rest of us.

On a corner he should be nearer the centre of his goal 😂
