Wolves 2-2 Spurs: EFL Cup 3rd Rd - Bah Lost on Penalties Verdict Thread

Mate he was not very good at all tonight.

I will praise him when he plays well (he was good in all the first four games this season) but this was bad Adama. Like can't pass a ball five yards and dribbling (and losing it) in stupid areas.

If Neves is aiming for the top corner, why is he Dicking around with stutter run ups and looking at the keeper. Your literally distracting yourself and making the execution harder.

Look at Kane. Stands there concentrating on the ball. Takes a few deep breaths and executes.

Why is Coady still taking pens? That’s the 4th one he’s missed for us! The only one he’s scored is against Bolton when the game was won and we’re already going up. 20% conversion rate. Doubt anyone who has taken 5 pens in their life is at that level. They’d have stopped taking them after 3 or 4

I don't agree, straight away he beat his man and put in a good ball, it was far from his best game, but he beat his man several times and caused problems and linked well with Hoever, once he moved central he was far less effective.

Like on Saturday where he could (should!) have had 3 assists, he could have had 2 tonight.

Do people expect him to beat his man every single time? Is that where i differ?

I don't care about him beating his man, Seol used to beat his man. With similar results.

As i said, he came on and created two excellent chances in his 45 mins on the pitch, that's what he is there to do and that is what he did, that qualifies as a good performance for me, it's not his fault our attackers can't finish or lack the intelligence to be in the right place at the right time.

Then you and I have different ceilings :D

I thought he was dire.

Left work at 3pm to drive up and just got home now, so I’m shattered & haven’t read every comment in here (apologies), but wanted to say that I don’t want to see Fabio Silva in a Wolves shirt again.

There is absolutely zero chance of us getting anywhere close to the money we spent on him back. “Generational talent” my arse.

Not fast enough to run in behind, not strong enough to hold the ball up, doesn’t win headers, doesn’t pass or play lay offs well, doesn’t shoot or get in threatening positions… every ball played in to his feet (of which there were many) he lost every single one. He’s not good enough & I can’t actually see any likelihood that he ever will be good enough - certainly not at this level. Even more frustrating when the fee we spent on him is one of the main reasons we didn’t have a pot to piss in (apparently) this last window. Shocking transfer and shocking player.

I’m actually surprised by the positivity on here. From my seat in the North Bank, all I could hear was constant moaning, tutting or criticism. Was a strange atmosphere - the crowd were quite edgy in the first half - understandable given the poor performance, but it concerns me what it’ll be like if we lose the next couple. Feel for Bruno a bit, but he needs to find a way to get us winning games.

Podence was great and I hope he starts at the weekend. I’d have RAN in there every day of the week ahead of Marcal, but I don’t think he’ll be fit. Also gutted for Yerson. That ‘strong bench’ is going to be looking pretty depleted again on Sunday, I think.

Spurs I thought were quite cynical and the ref just had no interest in controlling the game. Looked like a blatant penalty right in front of the South Bank to me? (But haven’t seen a replay)

I’ll leave it there!

Are you disputing that he was aiming for the top corner?
If Neves is aiming for the top corner, why is he Dicking around with stutter run ups and looking at the keeper.
I’m saying exactly what I wrote…

If you want to put it in the top corner, it’s doesn’t matter what the keeper does. Concentrate on putting it there rather than looking at the keeper and it’s less likely to end up in row Z

28,798 there tonight. Decent that is.

What is our capacity without the Graham Hughes stand? Just shy of 31k is it?

Oh, and Coady. Lovely fella. Time for him to make way. Weak as piss in the tackle, all over the place positionally. Offering us nothing at the moment.

We beat Swindon in 2009, think that was the last one. Neill Collins nailed one!

Adama was shite.
Didn't we beat Aldershot at home in a League Cup game that started before the league season - about 2013? Think it was in front of the NB as well

All been said above, but Fabio needs to step away from the squad - I guess Bruno is under pressure to give him time to justify his transfer, but he was truly shocking yesterday. Hwang was 10x the player centrally.

Odd rather anxious atmosphere in the ground, but that’s possibly due to a different set of fans.

Fabio is not a lone striker never will be, he has to play in a two to at least try and flourish.
I am struggling to see how he makes the grade as a footballer let alone a striker. He excels at nothing. He is a 35m tax.

He was set up to fail from day 1 by that fee. I'm not suggesting he'd be any good if he'd stayed at Porto or we'd signed him for £10m, but a club our size, making it's record signing on that player was always going to end in diasater. The scrutiny on him is fair on the club, but unfair on him.

If we' ve seen the peak of Wolves under Fosun, in years to come people will say it all started to go wrong when we signed Fabio. I feel sorry for the kid and contempt towards Hubris Jeff

I’m not sure I overly feel sorry for someone probably earning more in a month than I earn in a year, or who’s Dad took a massive backhander.

He’s set for life, when realistically he might have made a career in the lower part of the Portuguese pyramid.
