Wolves 2-2 Hull - Verdict Thread.

Bennett at RWB was the disaster we all knew it was going to be

If you read back through the build up thread then there were LOTS of people suggesting Bennett. In fact, I got pelters for suggesting we should have given German Phil a chance!

Only because he is not ready, not because he isn't good enough.

Clearly he is nowhere near being ready to play even 20 mins or else he would have been on the bench last night.

Well yeah, I said as much last night - I doubt we'll see Phil this season now.

But I did say beforehand Bennett wouldn't work at RWB and there were a LOT of people going with him there.

If Nuno had no plans to throw German Phil in (and we now know this was the case) it seems obvious to everyone that Jota wasn't 100%, so Nuno should have saved Jota for Cardiff and then we could have used Vinagre/Douglas as the two wing backs last night. The selection lies at Nuno's door, and he got it wrong last night.

Thankfully he's massively in credit.

Simply because that is how the club had been talking with regards to RWB rather than what most would have chosen.

Selection was wrong but we still created enough to put the game to bed in the 1st half. As I put above, we failed to win down to individual errors more than anything

Does anybody know what is happening with Bright? He was injured a while ago but it has been very quiet on him, and now I'm seeing people (well, Danks) on twitter suggest he isn't injured. We are pretty poor at communicating injuries at the best of times though. We could have done with him last night I think.

He is constantly asking the club and journalists for injury updates. If the club don’t want to release the information they might just want to keep some details in house. I don’t get why he thinks he is entitled to regular updates.

Like an earlier poster, I never thought I would hear myself saying this: we missed Matt Doherty last night! We all know Neves is a big miss when not playing (maybe too much reliance here on one player?) but last night just showed we have nobody else to go in at RWB and do as good a job as Doherty has done this season. It's been a real shame German Phil has been injured for so long - it would have been nice to have seen how he would have fared in the RWB position compared to Doherty. And the competition would have been good for both players.

"Only" 5 points? At that stage of the season, 5 points is huge. How much did you expect it to be at the start of the season exactly?

I'm very surprised with some of the hand wringing on here.

It's not huge when the 2 teams below us just aren't losing and have serious momentum behind them. I think we'll do enough to hang on but I think there's going to be a few well bitten fingernails before April is out.

We're 11 points clear of 3rd place with 6 games left :icon_lol:

Excuse me if I don't order a litre jar of prozac.

5 points isn't massive when the chasing team has got a game in hand that could quickly drop the game down to two points, putting them just one more slip up away from taking over. That same gap between Wolves and Cardiff was as great as 16 points just a couple of months ago, whilst it's still all in Wolves' hands you can't deny that it looks like they'll be stuttering over the line whilst Cardiff are really busting a gut to catch up.

Fulham's run in is pretty easy though and they could conceivably win every game. A win at Cardiff would calm a lot of nerves. Lose and I think people will understandably start to get twitchy.

Are people still actually having this conversation about us finishing outside the top 2?? :icon_lol:

It isn't understandable at all.

If the three top teams keep going at the pace they have been over the last 8 games then the table looks like:

Cardiff 99
Wolves 96
Fulham 90

Hard luck for us but any team that gets to 99 points deserves to win the league.

We are currently 6 points clear of 2nd and 11pts clear of third.

Fulham are not going to catch us! It is pant wetting at its finest to think they will. They won't win every remaining game but even if they did we would still pick up the 8 points needed from our last 6 games.

Cardiff have just taken 25 points from 27 so if they carry on and catch us it will be down to their abnormal run of form rather than any stuttering by us.

If it was any other club in our position, we'd all be saying they were nailed on for both promotion and title. I think we'll be fine and well beat Cardiff on Friday just to make the run in a bit dull.

Fucking hell. We have gone 10 points from the last 12 and people seriously think we aren't going to get 8 from 18???

Have a bloody word.

We are 1/2000 to finish in the top two, FFS.

Only those looking to deflect from Cardiff pipping Wolves to the title after a season of gloating and dismissing rivals.

Cardiff are not pipping us to the title either. Fucking hell.

I think it will be nip and tuck for the title if Cardiff win on Friday.

I think we'll draw personally and that will seal the deal.

Even if Cardiff win, then we are still ahead. Honestly the panic on here and over the road today is just mind-boggling.
