Wolves 2-2 Hull - Verdict Thread.

The sign of champions in any league is to win when youre expected to. Of course we can lose games. If we had drawn away at Hull and won at Home then its a different complection with the same points. The fact we did the hard part ( accepting that away games are considered harder) and dropped home points is frustrating. If Cardiff beat us on Friday they will have done the double over us. The only team in the league to do this, this year, a year when we have come so far forawrd on and off the pitch. By that fact alone if they then finish above us I would struggle to argue it is undeserved even if their style of football is different to ours . Promotion is the goal. The championship would be nice icing and my point was that

I thought the cliché was "the sign of champions is winning when not playing well" not "to win when you're expected to" - have never heard that expression.

Poor performance last night, but some of the comments on here like them being lazy are completely wide of the mark. We missed Neves (as would any side in this league) and missed Doherty too I felt, Bennett always seemed 20 yards further back than where Doherty usually takes up position on the right meaning we didn't have that sweeping ball to the right as an option. MGW coming on injected some urgency and pace into our play, he's going to be some player I reckon.

I thought it was his assistant manager who got involved, then the ball boy taunted him a bit by putting 1 finger up (index finger to signify 1st rather than his middle one)

Probably should have started MGW instead of Saiss in hindsight, the latter was clearly shattered on Friday and I wouldn’t want MGW starting against Cardiff where he’ll get kicked to hell and back and then we would have had a fully rested Saiss for Fridays game. Having Doherty and Neves back for the next game will be massive though, no reason we can’t go there and win

Bennett at RWB was the disaster we all knew it was going to be, we were complegely lopsided and struggled to switch the play as effectively as we have done all season. Without that ability to open a team up and create overloads on the wings we just looked a bit pedestrian unfortunately, not helped by J looking way off the pace, clear too earlt to bring him back.

Until Morgs came on of course. Then we looked a lot better with his dynamism in the middle. He is going to be some player.

Was out last night so didn't see any (apart from the limited highlights) & by all accounts we played poorly & not helped by the enforced positional changes.

We have had other poor games (QPR away etc) & no side will play well in every game in a long season in this division. Villa & Cardiff have had off days & even Fulham started poorly though are clearly in form right now. We still managed to not lose & are 1 point nearer the total needed, have always bounced back immediately & will have Neves & Doherty back for Friday fully rested.

Not going to get that much more worried than I was before the game & as has been said 4 points from the last 2 games is a perfectly OK return.

However to lighten the mood we did win something yesterday as Wolfie & his Mrs completely destroy the field in the mascot's race :icon_biggrin:

Oh btw, those stains in S2 with the flags (who have been pissing me off all season) sank to new lows last night. After obviously taking offence when the majority of the South Bank bizarrely chose not to join in with their monotonous 'Wolverhampton Wandereeeeeers' chant for 20 straight minutes they started up with 'Top of the league and you still don't sing'. Bunch of dimwitted, knuckle dragging, pre-pubescent, wannabe ultras. Why they think that waving a shit flag and chanting about how they 'love to drink and love to scrap' makes them such superfans I'll never know. Me and Darlowolf went to Ochillview to watch Stenhousemuir play last week and their 'ultras' (20 squeaky voiced 13 year old kids with a drum and a loud hailer) were better, at least they had a sense of humour. There are some seriously at risk children in that group.

Lady wolf came second. No change there says Mrs Wolf!

I completely agree with you.

Nuno and his team got it wrong last night. Bennett should have stayed in his position and Miranda should have stayed in the cold. MGW, Douglas, Vinagre (or the kid?) would of done a better job as RWB v Hull. Putting Cav there didn't work either, and never will. For once I'm a little annoyed.

On to Cardiff and luckily back to our usual XI.

Got it wrong but still should have gone in at half time a couple of goals up. Saiss and Jota with brilliant chances and we shot ourselves in the foot on the penalty. Players in whatever position last night really didn't cost us, it was stupid decisions that cost us.

Does anybody know what is happening with Bright? He was injured a while ago but it has been very quiet on him, and now I'm seeing people (well, Danks) on twitter suggest he isn't injured. We are pretty poor at communicating injuries at the best of times though. We could have done with him last night I think.

Tim II gave an update before the Boro game saying Nuno felt he was close to returning from a quad injury

Ah I missed that. It's a shame he has been out for so long, really felt he had kicked on under Nuno.

Certainly improved when he came back from that period he was out the team before.

It's Afobe's fault. He got crocked the week he arrived.

Love it when a player is out how he has either had a falling out or being sold. It was around this time last year we were told Costa was pulled out of the Forest game because we had agreed to sell him about 30 mins before kick off.

I think we can safely assume though that Jordan Graham is done at Wolves

Just imagine if we lose Friday there’s a very good chance we’ll only be 5 points clear of 3rd going into the Derby game.

"Only" 5 points? At that stage of the season, 5 points is huge. How much did you expect it to be at the start of the season exactly?

I'm very surprised with some of the hand wringing on here.
