Wolves 2-2 Everton: Verdict Thread

Very interested to watch the match when I get home but at first blush I have to say that not taking three points after being a man up for so long HAS to be a disappointment.

Yeah. I get that but once you've seen the game you may alter your view. Any points a good point in this league. 37 more 2 2 draws should see us safe lol! But seriously, I didn't want to lose today. I thought a draw before so cest la vie

It’s not a bad result against a good side, and probably a fair result - gives us a lot to work on though - and having Cav or Traore back will make a big difference - Nuno needed options off the bench today.

Candid interview with Ruddy on BT Sport. Long term, doesn't sound like he'll be around but he's definitely up for the battle until January at least - and doesn't fancy going to play back in the Championship.

A bit of a reality check today. Even though it wasn't Everton's strongest teams theyve all played at the top level for a good while.

We will learn from that game and hopefully it'll be a trigger to make the guys think about how they're playing and how they can improve. Remember when we thought Coady was shit because he got done by Leon Clarke?

I'd have easily taken a point before kick off

Cracking game all told. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We were the better side at times, but at others Everton had us on the rack.

2-2 was a very fair result, and am happy with the point. On to Leicester then.

Just about dried out, firstly I think Everton played very especially once going down to 10 men.
We won’t be the finished article after game 1 and delighted we fought back twice.
Reality is we won’t come up against sides every week who have as much attacking intent as Everton did today.
Key thing about today was compared to previous stints on the PL we didn’t look out of place or clearly look like a promoted side.
Looking back but disappointed we didn’t win but it’s a start.

Also - both of our goals were cracking. That Neves free kick was wondrous, and Raul's header was perfect. Pretty much the only place where Pickford couldn't save it.

Plenty to work on, there's no doubt about that, but I would far rather be starting that work on Monday with a point in the bag.

I think if Nuno is ruthless we will see Vinny and Jonny as our wingbacks next time. I have to admit I wish Traore was on the bench Costa was rank just offered nothing and fell over a lot he's going to have to seriously up his game if he wants to keep that shirt. At least Traore would have gone straight at them.

Not having Cav was a blow his movement would have really helped we did look static at times today.

I'm surprised a few thought Leo was shit he looked bright for me and brought Jimenez into the game more.

Lots to learn from this and we all know how meticulous Nuno is, no stone will be left unturned.

Hopefully nerves out the way and we can show what we are really capable of against Leicester.

I'm not sure about Vinagre starting yet. Jonny was excellent defensively and decent going forward too. Jota just didn't link with him well.

Vinagre wasn't tested defensively, which he would certainly be at Leicester.

While browsing facebook, just saw a Sporting fan hoping Rui breaks all the fingers of both his hands and Moutinho gets struck by lightning. Kind.

As for the game, we seemed a bit poor when defending, Boly was really subpar and Neves missed a couple passes he shouldn't have. We could have gotten forward when Everton were reduced to 10. However, I think starting with a tie against one of the top 10 isn't so bad.

We'll get better every game, so it's all good.

I thought Jonny was tremendous. Excellent player and I look forward to seeing more from him over the season.

OMG has anyone else heard the bit where McManaman says "I don't like Wolves" he thought mic was off biased twat.

Well McManaman won’t be able to be taken seriously the next time he commentates on us.
Just incredibly stupid on his behalf, asking him to be sacked like some on Twitter are is over the top, but no doubt somebody at BT will be reminding him of his responsibility as co commentator.

Yep I did ! You couldn't tell from the commentry though could you :rage:

Costa today reminded me of last season when he just didn't look at the races. He seems like a bit of a luxury player that we can't really afford to have. He needs to learn how to contribute even when he's not playing well - get the cross in, lay the ball off, just do the simple things. Same could be said of Jota too

My god yes even the freekick was a keeper error. Horrible twat I never want him commentating a Wolves match again.

He was making me angry, I kept thinking go on say something nice about us, but no he couldn't.

From one extreme to another Mick truly loves Wolves and (weirdly) offers charisma something that Owen Hargreaves does not

Not sure we can call either of them luxuries when they work so hard
