Wolves 2-0 Southampton: Verdict Thread

The man is a fucking smug idiot.

You didn't do anything, Russell. Random numbers don't mean anything.
I think he's an arrogant bellend but his coaching isn't awful, I don't mind what he did for the cunts at McDons or Swansea. The track record isn't bad and I consider him to be better than O'Neil. But, his personality is unbearable and smug as fuck for sure. He loves himself and adores possession for the sake of it and if I supported a team under him that patience would probably run thin fast.

Southampton are the one team I'd say are worse than us so winning today is positive even if the long-term consequences aren't good. I hope they keep him too for our own sake.

The told you so GON apologists are out in force in big numbers tonight.
Enjoy the win yes but the bigger picture is still incredibly bleak. That disallowed goal could easily have been upheld.
Saints are rubbish and we’re just one ring above them.
This fixture will be placed again next season in the championship, it’s exactly what it sounded like.
Halfway to the first target and that’s not being the worst PL side ever.
I doubt this will be the start of some sort of winning run more a flash in the pan type win.

Definitely a foul on Semedo, look at his ankle!

Can't disagree with the rest, I predicted a 3-0 win and relegation by Easter, well 2-0 means relegation by Valentines day.

Didn’t say it wasn’t a foul but could easily have been deemed as a none clear and obvious error.

Happy to finally win a game and get a clean sheet but can't get too carried away given the quality (or lack of) of the opposition, Southampton are a shocking side. Sadly it buys O'Neil more time which in the grand scheme of things is probably a bad thing but hey they're 'desperate' for him to do well so won't sack him on the back of 5 points from 9. On the surface that's a decent return but it's everything before that that's the issue.

Pleased with the win, pleased that the table doesn't look quite so bleak, disappointed that it's papered over some large cracks and means we're stuck with O'Neil for the foreseeable

How? It’s a foul and it was a clear error not to give it.

Put it this way many of the press at the game with no alliance to either side thought it was possibly harsh so by that token it could easily have gone against us. It’s foul but by no means a howler if given.

We would be raging if it was denying us a goal. GO would be getting invited for a chat and Hobbs would have thumped the ref this time.

It’s probably a foul yes but if we go by the PGMOL high bar mantra it’s a kind call for us.
A still pic of Nelson with a bit of blood on him proves nothing you can get that from any coming together.
You can easily look at Dawson challenge leading up to our second goal stating it’s a foul to.

What an odd team we are. Plenty of ability, some really good players to watch who create some sublime moments. Two of those today, and two goals.

However, it’s not just poorly managed, it’s being managed to destroy any of our virtues. The two centre backs don’t look like a catastrophe anymore, we’ve got an embarrassment of riches in centre midfield and a useful big bloke up top who could be supported by a world class 10. Yet despite a strong spine, we’ve got no structure. It’s odd.

Then the Neves visit. I love him. Must be the loudest the crowd have been for half a year too. The avalanche of nostalgia for an era those watching have flushed down the toilet though. Odd!

Nah, it was a clear foul. Looked it in real time, even before I spotted Semedo spouting several pints of blood out onto the pitch.

If Go could still have that chat it'd be good though.

Ait-Nouri after being substituted sulked all the way back to the tunnel and straight down it as the final whistle went. He walked half the length of the Steve Bull, the whole of the North Bank and half the Billy Wright and didn’t once acknowledge the fans. It was odd.

Not the point though is it? I'm delighted it went for us, just don't pretend it's consistent with the way the game is normally refereed or our second goal which was as much of a foul.

It's marginal at best, VAR shouldn't be giving it if the ref isn't. We have so much crying about VAR on here (rightly in the main), yet when one goes for us it's all of a sudden justified. Hypocrisy at its finest
Yep, I certainly don’t see it as clear and obvious. Great news for us, but in reality the sort of cobblers that the game could do without.

He clapped to the north bank when he went past us.
