Wolves 2-0 Palace: Verdict Thread

By the way if we beat Chelsea 3-0 then we end up with an exactly identical home and away record. One for all you symmetry fans out there.

Final home record this season is:

P19 W8 D7 L4 F27 A19 Pts 31

Last season was:

P19 W10 D4 L5 F28 A21 Pts 34
Last night was our first consecutive league wins at home this season! (Everton/Palace)

This is a great stat too:

Among defenders for Premier League clubs since the start of last season, only Trent Alexander-Arnold (33) has been directly involved in more goals in all competitions than Wolves' Matt Doherty (27 - 15 goals, 12 assists).

For all his faults, 15 goals and 12 assists in two seasons is impressive for a wing-back.

Given that TAA takes plenty of corners and FKs it's even more impressive

Doc has scored a FK for us!

Understandably he doesn't really get a look in now.

We got to see all of the back four in that clip for the first goal... Iorfa - Williamson - Hause - Doherty

My we've come a long way since then :icon_lol:

Good hit and an assist for the cameras on the goal too! Obvious in hindsight we had a real superstar on our hands...

Ikeme did have a really good game, forgot about that. Loved hearing the Stoke fans raging on the radio afterwards too. That Imbula was such rubbish, and why on earth does Glen Johnson have the number 8?!

That absolutely wrecked Stoke. They were comfortably mid-table then, playing ok and fancied a cup run. Their record ever since that game is a trainwreck.

Similar to how we ruined Bristol City two years in a row.

Which I think is nonsense. It was the slightest brush with his arms down by his side. No way is that a free kick. It wouldn't be a penalty if it was a defender.

It would if it was one our defenders...

Just to point out:

9 clean sheets in 13 games now.

Appreciate that the game lasts until the ref blows the whistle, but we're a whisker away from that being 11 in 13.

Absolutely incredible record. We're ridiculously well drilled.

I really liked the look of the defence last night, Boly on the left is just magnificent. Donk did well - quite a change from playing as the most advanced CM too.

Donk had a good game last night - his passes out of defence went forward more than backwards, was a good performance.

I really like Leander in the back three. Maybe given time he would cut out some of the sloppy errors he tends to make. I think we will buy a player for that position though

Other fans I speak to still think we are purely a defensive team that just put 11 men behind the ball.

It shows that if we can get another top defender for RCB we would be very good both defensively and playing the ball out.

I thought he looked a little jittery, could have given away a penalty, got turned easily and was nowhere for the Schlupp chance.

Other than that he was pretty good.

That was Boly's fault for giving a five yard pass away and Doc's fault for being about 40 yards away from where he should have been (when it gets passed out to Schlupp, he isn't even in our half).

Did get too tight to Zaha once but it came to nowt. His errors previously have been trying passes that are too ambitious in the wrong situation.

Yep, i appreciate that to non Wolves fans we look boring and defensive. I couldn't care less though, I love watching us, I've never once been "bored" watching us this season.
