Wolves 2-0 Brentford: Verdict Thread

He'll get a great reception when/if he returns with an opposition, he's a bona fide club legend, up there with, Bully, Hibbit, Parkin, Richards, Doog, Wright, Cullis.

I think he'll be a lot more attractive this summer as he'll be c£20m rather than £50m. Realistically though I think the pool of clubs that would think about him, but also be big enough for him to want to move, is pretty small, maybe ten or so in the world. I can see Liverpool being a good fit. He'd get in United's team but don't think they'd be interested. Spurs and Newcastle will be options, then maybe 2/3 from each of Spain, Italy and Germany

I cant see us selling him for 20mill.

Newcastle are one club that may be interested that weren't last season.

But both Spurs and Chelsea are in a state of flux, Barca are skint, Liverpool i think will blow their cash on CBs and a Henderson replacement.

Like last season I think it's a really small pool of clubs, and with Julen being our manager if the weeks roll by with little/no interest I could see him signing another contract.

How fantastic coming out of Molineux smiling again after another fine performance which sees us almost safe and great to see Costa finally get his goal. His best display in a Wolves shirt and though his best days are behind him, I really like him, a real character and clearly popular with his mates. Hopefully he can get some more now he's broken his duck.

As others have said, Matheus was imperious. He looks so assured in that position and his run to set up Hwang's goal was magnificent! Lop has a quandary on his hands. Our best player becomes available again but the midfield unit and performances in the 2 games without him have been the best of the season.

The defence was solid again with Dawson looking like one of our shrewdest signings of recent years, Kilman was good again and Toti is making that position his own even though we also have the excellent Bueno and RAN in the ranks.

Regarding Sa, some very good saves but his distribution was poor at times and brought pressure back on and pissing around with the ball in his 6 yard box, Lop went nuts at him and rightly so. Still another clean sheet, Lop's off to Pizza Hut again!

Apart from the penalty incident (what do we have to do to get a penalty) and a couple of card incidents (the shirt pull on Matheus) I thought Tierney had a good game.

Happy days, other results went our way again. 24 points won under Lop and from bottom of the table to 7 points clear of the bottom 3 with 7 to play, a huge turnaround in fortunes which should see our stay in the Premier League extended and if so, will be exciting to see what can be achieved under Lopetegui going forward.

Come on you Wolves!

My dad can't really get to games anymore, but I really, really want him to see Ruben Neves before....you know. He's one of those players who look so much more impressive when you see them 'live' rather than on the telly.

I agree also watching the games from behind the goal really which I’ve done since he’s been here shows just how good he is.

Yep, I'd hate to see him play for Utd or Liverpool, but you can't argue the step up. 18 months ago Newcastle wouldn't have been, that would be a kick in the goollies. For me some of the shine wears off if he stays in England, if it were to go to them he'd fall to just another ex player quickly in my eyes. Still hope he goes abroad and avoids all that

I was worried Toney would dominate him but he was magnificent today up against Toney. Carried the ball forward too and pinged several beautiful long range passes. The one to Adama was magnificent, Adama didn't have to move his foot. But it was his physical presence I was impressed with today, actually dominant in the air.

The predictable chant that made me laugh today was 'he's had us to win 2-0, Ivan Toney he's had us to win 2-0'.

I’d rather he went abroad I think he’d be perfect at one of the Italian big boys.

Newcastle fans seem to think he's heading that way, which I think is about as bad as it gets from a fans perspective
Odd one this, because he isn't going to replace Guimaraes or Joelinton in that midfield, who have both been fantastic. He's better than Longstaff, but Longstaff is good at getting forward so I'm not sure where he'd fit into Newcastle's lineup really. I suppose he could sit and let Bruno play a more attacking role, but I'm not sure.

This is it. The clubs that might be in the market for him don't need him. Much like last season.

I don't think we'd let him go for less than 40mill either, and nor should we.

We'd let him go for less than 40m if he's not going to sign a new deal. It's less than his value but you can't lose him on a free when you need funds to balance out what you're doing in terms of incomings. We have other saleable assets but if we want to give Lopetegui funds this time its going to need considerable money coming in as we can't make another sizeable loss again.

It wasn't in relation to Neves, but I read that their Summer priority is to find a player to do just this

Of all the moves he might realistically make, this would be the one I'd most hate to see. Even the thought of him in that humbug kit makes me shudder.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he signed a new deal and gave us one more year. It would be criminal if he left for less than £40m.

I think Julen is keen to develop his goals/assists game and that’s when we’d start getting big bucks for him.

I think he'll go for 25-30, partly because of the contract, but mainly because I think they'll have promised him the move this time

As Barca is seemingly now out of the equation because of their transfer wranglings (I reckon he was due to go to them), I think both Liverpool and Man Utd could easily put him in their side. Both have a dire need of a decent ball player at the base of their midfield.
