Wolves 1 Man United 1: “another Neves-esque classic goal” The Verdict thread

Clearly a mistake. No opinion on the points in my post? Rather nit pick? Nice one.

I wasn’t nit picking, just pointing it out. I’m on my phone posting between jobs so didn’t have time to post an opinion on every point you made sorry. Thanks for thinking I’m nit picking though, nice one.

What Pogba dive are people talking about? Surely not the penalty? There was contact, plain as day.

There is contact but he made sure there was contact. I wouldn't call it a dive, he knew what he doing. Even Coady has said he has no complaints on it.

The only surprise for me was no yellow card for Coady

It was contact, but he went over Coady's leg rather than his leg bringing him down. Pogba went looking for it, he's preparing to go flying before there's contact. He did a professional job and got his side a potentially match winning opportunity. And justice was served when Rui saved it.

It can be both.

No way that level of contact causes anyone to fall over, Pogba ended up on the ground because he wanted to but at the same time Coady dangles a foot out there for a second and savvy players are going to take advantage of that these days.

VAR can't be used for bookings. The foul on Jota would have been a second yellow

Yes I know. My point being that referees aren’t always right. Regardless of how many were looking at it.

Like Neves has been ‘plain as day’ not very good for months?

Watch the replay, he’s already on his way down before the contact that HE made.

Time to point out a mistake though :)

Should VAR have requested the penalty is taken again?

Based on the rules yes. Interestingly on the City one last week they said the encroachment was given because Rice was the one he cleared the ball and so gained an advantage. I presume given where the ball went that wasn't the case with Coady?

Agreed. No argument from Coady, and Jota would do something similar and we wouldn't think anything of it.

Clever play from Pogba , bought the penalty but Karma and Patricio evened it up!

:yikes:
