Wolves 0 - 2 Huddersfield: The Verdict.

See I can stimulate debate and reach a mutually positive outcome

Well, you can keep saying something that's wrong and I'll feel compelled to correct it eventually. That normally works :D

Yes, it was good play. It's not enough on its own though.

You cannot get a sense from that of how terrible he is off the ball.

Still a hell of a lot of shocking stuff as well.

Thing is he's a sprinter, built for short bursts of very intense activity - Jota et Al are more long distance runners able to sustain lesser activity for longer.

It's difficult to argue which is more effective in the Prem, though the stats would suggest the former.

16 clips, 7 ended with him on his arse - as a Cav and Costa package would have.

Michael Owen was a sprinter but he didn't play like that!

I'd like him to come good, really I would. But if you've spent 10 years at Barcelona and you play like that...

That's my biggest issue with him. Built like Tyson with the weight of Amir Khan. He must be hollow.he has to be 90 kg. If you hit that at speed it should hurt but he ends up in his arse.

Costa always has been a bit lightweight. Jota can be petulant. Cav can just be shit. The problem for me is when it all happens in the same match!

There was other good stuff on there - straight after the cross for jiminez header, he tackles someone, turns and runs most of the pitch and lays it wide for example, and there’s quite a few simple passes, where he was previously criticised for only ever running with it. And then there are the stats showing how far ahead of our other IF’s he is for xA. I get that he drives you crazy, and that off the ball he needs a lot of improvement (and not to stand around watching) - but you have to be able to acknowledge the good too, surely?

In terms of end product, the stats say he’s streets ahead of Costa - costa may be better off the ball than Traore, but if it has no end result, what’s the point?

I do acknowledge the good, I just don't think there's anything like enough of it :icon_lol:

And as I say, Costa is massively impacted by the way we have chosen to run the right hand side since half time at West Ham. We don't let him get into the right positions. It doesn't excuse him at all, because he should be doing more, but he's not the man we ask to run the inside channels down that side. For some reason we have a career RB doing that.

I don’t think I buy that - the way doc plays means Helder delivers one sixth of the xA of Traore - Doc still plays when Traore does.

Traore is 23rd in the prem for that stat. I couldn’t go far enough down the list to find Helder. if Traore was actually as bad as you make out, he wouldn’t be that effective, surely?

It's not a direct comparison, if Helder were purely coming on for the last 20 minutes of a game and being told "do what you want, run riot", the results for him would be very different.

Adama had one start, was shit and we haven't done it again since. Correction, he also started vs Leicester in the cup and was shit.

Adama is our Plan B and he's pretty decent at that.

Would they be six times better though? Seems unlikely. Tbh, it just feels like an excuse to justify the abuse..

Ok, so for balance - Adama is massively shit, but six times more effective than Helder - so that makes Helder, what exactly? Or is Traore exclusively the only shit player we have, as all the focus seems to be on him?

Well, kind of.

City was a mixed bag, some dreadful stuff and 1.5 decent runs.

West Ham was good.

Burnley was very good.

United was infuriating.

Southampton was incredibly dire apart from the one really good moment...which contributed to a goal.

Only about six minutes at Palace, I think he lost it every time he got it though. N/A

Didn't do anything vs Watford.

Was crap vs Brighton.

Not very good vs Spurs.

Decent against Arsenal although should have scored.

Shite against Huddersfield.

It's not a brilliant track record IMO/IMV.

Abuse :icon_lol:

I'm on record as saying that Jota and Costa need to do more. I know they can play football though so they get more leeway from me. That's just me. You need to be more woke and accept people for what they are, man. It's nearly 2019.

It'll get lost on the last page so again:

Feel the seething hate there where I call Adama a cunt who is worse than Paul Jones (a hybrid of both of them) with boots on the wrong feet.

Or not.
