I don't care who it's down to, the inquest can wait for later and it's not really my problem.Right, and thats down to Jeff mostly, Brighton were the same last season, but now they are starting to score..at least we have one win, draws get you nothing
So depending on Raul isn't an option but we need him to get match fit which is Catch22.The killer stat is Raul, 14 shots, 1 on target.
We’ve signed two forwards this summer. If they aren’t clinical, why do we keep signing forwards who can’t score?
I just look at West Ham. They sign forwards who can score, from the championship, for less money than we have committed to Trincao. These players attack the back post, get themselves in decent positions, get on the end of crosses, cut inside and find the top corner.
They also have FBs who can cross. Watching the end of the Chelsea game yesterday I watch Marcos Alonso put 3 or 4 dangerous balls in from deep in the last 20 mins. Yes I know he’s better than what we have. But Cresswell and Coufal do the same and they aren’t even playing as WBs. Why do our WBs not cross it, and when they do why is it rubbish. You don’t need a big man in there is you put it in dangerous areas. See Liverpool for details.
I’m just fed up with 3-4-3 when it suits none of our players.
Yep, or find someone else who can get shots on target. I'll get absolute pelters for this, but Fabio has decent shooting stats. So depending on Raul isn't an option but we need him to get match fit which is Catch22.
While I'd agree Semedo doesn't have enough end product, I must have missed all the games when Hoever crossed good balls. Our crossing is shameful both from open play and set piecesYou've hit the nail firmly on the head with the recruitment and I said as much in the summer about buying players who can't score. I got told that our stats guys were brilliant, they're clearly fucking shite and should be binned.
Whatever our recruitment strategy is it isn't working, it's total rubbish but we are where we are.
I think we're more equipped to go 4-4-2 with inverted wingers in Podence and Trincao and let the full backs overlap but I think we have to be bold enough to bin Semedo and Marcal and play Hoever and RAN, both of whom can cross a ball and have decent technique. We'd have to have Raul as a traditional target man style striker which works for Burnley and then play Hwang off him as a poacher as he's the only one who seems to be able to have an eye for goal and go beyond Raul.
We'd say goodbye to clean sheets, Conor Coady and £70m worth of transfers that way which the club hierarchy may not be able to stomach, but at least we'd score goals.
At the moment we'd get less than that. We'd get relegated on about 25 points with 4-4-2.
Did you see the early pre-season games? Every attack against us looks like a goal.
Well at the moment 3-4-3 isn't working either.4-4-2 would honestly be a disaster, we have absolutely no kind of set up for it. Not a single natural winger who can do what you'd need in both directions, one centre half who currently can't stay fit and the rest can't do it (or in Yerson's case, who the fuck knows), no way at all to balance the midfield properly.
We even tried it and it looked laughable, like a parks team.
I genuinely can't believe you think that would be the answer.
Crossing is probably a poor term, I mean more passes in from wide areas, whether standing it up, pulling it back from the byline or any pass into danger areasCrossing has a really low yield in general, we shouldn't be playing like that, we don't even need to.
we will do the same this year..points will come if we play like we have done for most of the games...and Neto will be back and Jonny too, hey, maybe we can even sign a player in january(very difficult window though)I don't care who it's down to, the inquest can wait for later and it's not really my problem.
We just don't look very good, do we.
Not that we were in any danger last season but we lost to West Ham with eight games to go and had 35 points.
Now, two things here:
1) We then went and beat Fulham and Sheffield United 1-0, one after the other. Putting us all but mathematically safe. We didn't play well in either game (we were probably the better team, but against crap, and we didn't exactly light it up). Who has got faith in us doing that in any game this season, based on what you've seen so far? We always look like conceding.
2) Who reckons we'll have 35+ points after 30 games? And we were "shit" last season apparently.
Just catching up, lot of time for the last sentence. BravoThe problem is his squad was built over four years to play a particular style and by changing the style without giving Lage at the very least a dominant centre half that can cope with a high line we have made things much harder than they could have been. It's like asking a cricket coach to play attacking cricket with Tavare and Boycott.
