Wolves 0-2 Bournemouth 31/1 Verdict thread.

Word “robbed” or “deserved” should only be left to when the ref has totally fucked you over late on he Man Utd 2023.
Defeat today was 100% caused by us being lacklustre defensively and being wasteful in front of goal.
Effort and endeavour weren’t the problem today decision making was.
We have a shocking squad for this level and I mean one of the worst seen in a while so they did alright today. Another issue is consistency levels and crap players are about as consistent as a snakes and ladders board.
When the opposition is better in both boxes than you they deserve to win.

We didn’t deserve a point at all. We could have got one, though I never thought we would, but we deserve nothing. The ‘plan’ is to be solid at the back to spare blushes, there’s no plan to put the opposition under consistent threat.

Literally a bloke behind me was saying ‘we’re not the worse team in the league. We’re just always unlucky in many games we’ve actually ‘been in’.’

8 points. Beaten every time despite me never seeing an opposition team look anything more than average. We’re out of control.

And we drag the opposition down to our level. Forget about not having seen a team look good all season, I can’t remember seeing a player look like a good footballer all season. Ours or theirs. Can anyone tell me when they saw a performance from a player worth talking about, let alone a few quid? What an inexcusable pile of shit. Everyone involved should be gone.

Apart from the new kit man and the club doctor. They seem decent people.

The first game I've watched under Edwards where I've thought that we had a coherent plan of what to do when we had the ball. We've been a bit more solid recently but that's the next step towards being an acceptable football team.

I think 1-1 would've probably been a fairer result but that's what happens when you've got a lack of quality throughout the team.
Yeah me and my lad were talking on the way back to car, saying this is the first game where we haven't just put 10 behind the ball and try to get summat on the break. We competed all over the pitch. We had more possession, more shots, more shots on target and better xg. Obviously none of that matters if you dont get the result but its nice to not be like a plucky league 1 team against the big boys.

Sorry I just dont agree with the first part of your post. We absolutely deserved a point and we did put them them under fairly consistent pressure, we were just shit in front of goal.

How exactly did we deserve a point? Missing chances isn’t bad luck it’s just called being another level of shit.
Taking chances is a skill in itself which we’ve not had all season.
As said if VAR or the ref has a howler then yep fair enough.
What happened today gets slated in any of the previous 7 seasons just that now we’re so bad that we’re treating a jolly good effort like a moral victory.

No need to apologise. Completely respect your view.

It’s not mine though. They looked vastly superior, while being absolutely ordinary. I’ve just seen it too much, too often.

And I can’t stand the cut of the jib of the man in charge. Simply my instinct so I won’t try and reason it.

It’s also fair to say that RE isn’t doing a terrible at the moment however I’m not sure I want him here for a huge summer rebuild, the 2 situations don’t have a direct correlation.

Apart from the save from Tolu, which was more a case of it hitting the keeper, did their keeper make anything than a routine save?

How do you suppose that?

I hate the chopping and changing of coaches, man. What I would give for a guy to get more than a year with a group and actually build something.

Bah, there’s an impatience in football I’ll never get onside with, I suppose.

Not aimed at you in isolation, but I never understand the we deserved a point, or we were the better side argument in games like this. We deserved what we got, nothing, because we can't finish and give soft goals away. Losing because of our own inadequacies, not external factors. I don't even particularly blame the players or Edwards, they are what they are.

There's not a single manager bar Nuno that we've had where I thought "we sacked him too early" or "I wish he were still here".

At a real push Solbakken, not because I liked him or his football, but it was a binary choice between him or Saunders.

Tell you when we deserved a point - when we lost 1-2 to that great Liverpool side that evening. We were magnificent. Imagine describing us as magnificent anytime in the near future. Think we’re getting back to that kind of heart and skill under this structure? Of course not.

Didn’t say anything about others of ours, doesn’t mean I don’t think that clubs are far too eager to sack a manager. The timeline for success is absurd.

Obviously there are limits. Our starts the last few seasons, for instance.

How can you not see they’re 2 totally different situations?
Why do you persist with managers on the hope they get things right the longer they stay in place? It can be argued that the longer someone stays they become stale.
Thirdly Chelsea have won 21 trophies this century and have had the same amount of managers in that time also.
Nuno was at his best here earlier on than he was 4 years later.
Very little evidence in current football supports persistence breeds long term results. Evidence again with lop in 2022/23 was able to reverse the Lage shit show quickly. VP was able to turn around GON. Mad house in rapid style too.

Yeah that was unlucky because RAN getting injured lead to Hoever coming on, although if I remember correctly Sa belting the ball up the pitch to nobody was still an element of self sabotage

We are better than we were. This team and application from the start of the season would have got 20-25 points.

I think that the absurdity is that clubs keep employing idiots
That one I’ll give you. But if managers can really, truly implement their ideas in two weeks, this sport is not nearly as complex as people say, or coaching means nothing.

@jd1981 because the people playing for us and the club don’t catch amnesia every summer. Big clubs get away with it largely because they can outspend on talent so significantly. We can’t. VP and Lop fixed nothing as evidenced by the last season and a half. They’re no measuring stick.

It’s not changing. I still hate it.

Plenty overstayed their welcome too. A couple left of their own volition, Hoddle was a blessed relief and Lopetegui as he could see the direction of travel and got out before he crashed with it. I wonder where we’d be now if Lop hadn’t walked out? One things for certain, he couldn’t have wasted funds as spectacularly as we did last summer.
