Because it's stupid.
It's stupid, but unfortunately it's what we need to deal with
Because it's stupid.
Is there such a thing? any corner routine can lead to a goal that is ruled out because VAR has found a mm of a player in an offisde position
We have a 50-50 record on "getting caught out".
No, but you can minimise as much as you can
But if you are dealing in micro mm's it is impossible to minimise it in such a tight area.
Yesterday Jota made a run into the space for Neto to play the short ball (he wasn't just standing there) as he recieved it he had a defender on him so the ball had to go back to Neto or we are probably losing the ball or its delayed to the point that the cross doesn't get to Doc or a defender spots Boly unmarked. Its a training ground issue if Neto is clearly offside.
Lets say Neto whips that ball in to the 6 yard box, Doc gets up and wins a header but at the very point he wins the header, Leicester step out at the exact right moment and Willy Boly has the plastic bit of his boot laces in an offside position are we then saying we need to change to where we put the ball in from a cross?
He’s not offside (only the stupid micro analysis says he is). His whole body is literally a yard onside, and as we know, the frame rate isn’t good enough to assess the exact moment anyway. But they’ve bought in a shit rule with shit implementation so that = offside. Fine.
But then to sit here and blame the corner routine?? Get in the fucking bin.
He was offside though by the laws of the game and those same laws will be in force for the rest of the season.
Why not give ourselves the best chance of success and figure out how not to get caught out again.
I'd rather we adapt than have to moan about getting VARd again for a short corner routine
I think we all agree. Var sucks. The implementation in the PL has been horrendous and is killing the game and our love of the game. Where we differ is in what we can do to stay within the rules as they are currently being interpreted. We could have done more yesterday.
Watching the cricket yesterday in the pub pre-match.
Bit of a shocker in England's favour (hit Bavuma's glove rather than his pad), clearly the umpire has had a nightmare there, reviewed and TV intervenes to overturn what would have been a proper injustice.
If there's anything remotely close then it stays with the on field umpire. There has to be conclusive, obvious proof to turn that decision around.
We have to go back to on field primacy or nothing will change. If they seriously mess up or there's something off the ball that they couldn't be expected to see between them, then fine, have a word. Get him to go and have a look for himself if you want given the facility is there. Otherwise leave well alone.
When you have a farce where even Mike Dean didn't know who was supposed to be offside there - we certainly didn't inside the ground, once again communication was woeful, no information on the screen about who we're supposed to be checking and a replay that was popped up for a second at absolute best (and I can't see the best these days all the way to the opposite corner of the ground to a fairly low res screen!) - then it just emphasises what a broken system we have.
Feel free to go through any week of Bundesliga match reports and count the number of VAR controversies. If they happen then they'll get mentioned. But amazingly they have very few and we seemingly have multiple events every single week. They should maybe reflect on that.
