Wolves 0-0 Leicester: VAR Rinse & Repeat Verdict

THis - what Punts said. Leicester have scored 54, we have scored 35. OK, 9 of those were against Soton, but even if we knock 7 of those off, they've still scored a third more goals than us. It is a simple maths fact in the Premier League that if you win half your games and lose half you qualify for Europe. If you draw every game you go down, or very close to it. As I said on the match thread, the next two games are not just must-win, they are must-win-well

I can't say I agree with your last sentence at all. However, the upcoming set of 6/7 fixtures represent a real opportunity to cement a place in the top 6 that we really need to grasp. If we don't, we put more pressure on ourselves to win the Europa Cup.

I think people are putting too much faith in the Europa Cup as a route into Europe next year. We're around 12/1 to win the Europa League. We're around 2/1 to finish in the top six. The latter is far more attainable, but we simply must start winning games like last night

The game is ruined. And ourselves and Sheffield United are the biggest losers from VAR.

Shock.

I went to bed bloody angry and have woken up in the absolute foulest of moods. Everything is keeping clear of me , dog, wife, goldfish! Trying to take any sort of positive about the interpretation and implementation of VAR is completely impossible for me as a Wolves fan. Its going to end up costing us a European place. Fuck all this "it evens itself out over a season" bollocks that was mooted by those in power at the start of the season. .

Hypothetical I know but slide rule decisions have cost us up to 7 points against teams above us. That's just Leicester and Liverpool. And its not fair because with Man City banned it will pretty much nail on Leicester's champions league qualification. No surprise its Sheffield and us who suffer most. Add to that the teams who have won at Wolves Chelsea and Spurs who we still have to play are above us and we have to go to their place for the return matches.

As an ardent Wolves fan I really want us to win the Europa league. As a football fan I really want us to win it to fuck over this big six mentality companies like Sky are so keen to promote.

Lineker and Leicester deserved fuck all against us this season yet are unbeaten against us due to technicalities. It stinks.

Fuck VAR, analyse over

Raul seems to be getting a lot of flak, yes he missed 3 chances, but non of them were sitters, if my memory serves me, they were all headers from a fair distsnce out where he had to generate some power making them more difficult. The last one at the end was probably the best which just went a whisker past the post. I'm still confident these little things going against us will turn round and we'll string 3-4 wins together

Boly goal stands we win 1 nil.

Not necessarily. The 2nd half wouldn't have played out the same way had the goal been given. I still think we'd have won but anything could have happened.

We should have won anyway and Raul should have scored at the end.

Most of the team played ok even Raul despite his misses.
You can’t blame a pregnant woman for his performance. He’s definitely been scoring elsewhere.

We don't and aren't ever going to. We don't go for the throats of the opposition and haven't really at any time under Nuno, including in the Championship, our build up outside of the counter has always and will continue to be measured. It's pointless to wish for something else, irrespective of whether it would be the correct thing. The issue is we have under this style is we create chances but, we are wasteful. That and sloppy goals conceded are the reason we are behind Leicester as outside of that they aren't superior to us.

Exactly, this is my point. It’s not “pointless to wish so”. No issues with the pragmatic style for the majority of the game, but when 3 points is there for the taking then we need to be able to take It.

Villa were gung-ho first half of the season, conceding goals for fun, nailed on relegation candidates. They’ve no gone far more pragmatic and rely on individual moments of magic and now have given them a hope of staying up.

We did create chances, and we were wasteful. But this is an on going theme. And we can’t trot out the “we’re missing a number 9”. So the only other thing that’s got to give is tactics.

I turn on sky and they show the VAR from both Leicester games this season. Its not football anymore.

Got nothing more to say about VAR, but if this in place next season one of the 10k will be getting a season ticket. People sat in the second half with their arms folded disengaged from the game. So many have just had enough.

Last night was the first time I lost interest at a game. Took me an age to switch back on. This will be killing our players mentally as well. If that happened at around the 25 min point then we would have lost last night as our heads were gone.

Not going to talk about the game much, it was ours but we wasted 4 or 5 good chances with shit finishing.

2 points I will raise

1) someone in the medical team is getting called into Nuno's office. He was furious with them when Doc needed treatment 60 seconds into the 2nd half

2) What was Raul thinking when he took the throw in as Doc was off the pitch. What was his thought process that led him to throwing the ball 50 yards towards Rui and almost putting Vardy in in goal (Going to say Vardy is nowhere near fit. His movement was poor and he was reluctant to chase down balls like he usually does)

I cheered loud for our goal yesterday, never in my life i thought it was gonna be ruled out. Then as soon as they switched pic to the ref i understood VAR is coming to get me yet again and just went numb after the decision. Killing the game inside and out. They seriously have to change this for the next season..

Its irrelevant what direction the ball is played in if the player is offside when the pass is made.

No it's not
To be offside the following is and always has been required

2 players between the opposing player and the goal line at the moment the ball is kicked.
Player must be in front of the ball
The ball must be played forward
I missed one the player must be in the opponents half

It’s genuinely ruining the season for me, I didn’t enjoy the citeh fight back even. It just makes everything flat, or very ugly - the atmosphere at half time was as nasty as I’ve seen Molineux outside of the BCD.

I’m going to see what they decide for next season before renewing, I don’t want another season of this.

For me, its since the Liverpool away game that it been difficult. Couldn't get my head around that game and then the Man Utd Cup replay, I essentially gave up watching after Neto had his goal ruled out. The game was on but my interest levels just fell through the floor but this was the first time at Molienux it has destroyed my spirit. After we celebrated last night I jokingly said to my brother "now we wait for VAR to find a reason to wipe that out"...fuckers.

It isn't going to change this season and from what I am hearing and reading those in charge of VAR think they are doing a spiffing job and the majority of fans are behind them and their decisions so I don't hold much hope in things changing next season.
