We're literally the only country that implements VAR like this. Instead of looking at Spain, Italy, Germany etc where they've had it already and worked out a lot of the kinks, PGMOL decided they knew better than everyone else and would implement it their own way. And they've made a massive fuckup in the process. They are to blame here, as usual.

Got nothing more to say about VAR, but if this in place next season one of the 10k will be getting a season ticket. People sat in the second half with their arms folded disengaged from the game. So many have just had enough.

That said we aren't anywhere near clinical enough. We create on average around 4/5 clear cut chances per game. So when we do we need to take them, we don't game after game. Tonight Raul was the villain.

I thought we defended the best we have all season. Although Leicester didn't create a lot, some of our blocks were very good. Rui doesn't tend to get motm because we don't concede lots of chances, but what credit he does deserve is his handling. He never spills shots from outside the box

By absolute letter of the law and by the book the decision was right. But it’s just such a robotic way of looking at things. The stadium experience of these situations is just vile.
I always knew goals that looked suspicious could be overturned.
But now goals that look in real time to have nothing wrong with them get chalked off with the most minimal of explanation in the ground.

Just read the match thread. Mike Dean had a decent game, to suggest he didn't or should be looking at a screen for an 'offside' is bollocks. Refs can now look at a screen to reconsider a decision HE has made, thus far it's only been red cards, but could also apply to penalties. He didn't call / not call the offside so the screen isn't an option

Most of what I have to say about the game is, again, VAR related and I am fucking sick of it. If Leicester or Liverpool or Manchester United had scored that goal no way would it have been ruled out.

Not one Leicester player was questioning it as they prepared to kick off. The adverse reaction at half time was beyond anything seen previously with VAR.

Aside from that shit, an enjoyable game and we played well. Rock solid in defence but not clinical enough in attack. Neves was my MOTM and Neto was very good again. Jota was frustratingly poor, on current form Neto should be in his place and Traore on the right.

The main tests for Rui came from his own players who seemed to be deliberately trying to test him, most notably Doc (I think) lobbing the ball back to Coady from the right flank and the spectacular throw in from near the half way line with Vardy (I think) bearing down which Rui had to head out.

And as for Maddison accusing Traore of going down easily after his try for a penalty...

Fuck off letter of the law, the offside rule was invented to prevent opposition poachers parking themselves in the box. Pretty sure there were no cameras drawing arbitrary lines tracking millimeters on a computer screen back then. Absolute shambles, they fucked up the world cup with all the corruption and now theyve fucked up the premier league.

Whats the point of watching? They can find a technicallity and discredit every single one of our goals, and just say "oh too far back to check" when it a handball on the pass of the goal against us

The law was not written with the intention of punishing a player who, having taken a corner, is now moving back onside from an offside position to recieve a ball played backwards to him that he will receive in an onside position.

We can bemoan VAR but Jimenez has been criminally wasteful tonight. To not even draw a save or get them on target is unreal profligacy.

Think we defended supremely. BBC reporting after an hour Vardy had, had 7 touches.

Saiss was unbelievable. He's becoming increasingly indispensable. Dendoncker covered lots of ground but a few times he was caught napping too.

Diogo is like Diogo pre-Chelsea last season. He needs one sticking on a plate for him and I think he'll kick on and finish the season strong.

Special mention for Neves today, I thought it was a very mature performance from him given he didn't have João alongside him. Properly stood out and covered ground and the Leicester midfield didn't really stand out.

I didn’t sit their at the game and at any point think we were turning the screw or banging on the door. At one stage when they were down to 10 men we were still dropping into shape in our own third. Should have pressed them and forced the long ball and squeezed the pitch. They weren’t going to win the first ball and odds are in our favour to win the second.

Until we start taking the handbrake off more often we are going to draw games we should win and lose games from giving away soft goals (despite being pragmatic) and not taking it to teams.

Another opportunity missed. We’re no worse a team than Leicester, yet they’ve got a 14 point lead and a far superior GD with guaranteed CL next year. I’m going to really disappointed if with this opportunity we miss out on Europe altogether

That's as valid as saying I wish we played like late 80's Wimbledon. We don't and aren't ever going to. We don't go for the throats of the opposition and haven't really at any time under Nuno, including in the Championship, our build up outside of the counter has always and will continue to be measured. It's pointless to wish for something else, irrespective of whether it would be the correct thing. The issue is we have under this style is we create chances but, we are wasteful. That and sloppy goals conceded are the reason we are behind Leicester as outside of that they aren't superior to us.

True, but that's why we will be the "nearly" team.

The way we play is only going to get us so far and will not get us into the top 4/6.

Yes we might be the equal or competing with the likes of Leicester but at least they have a gear where they can put teams to the sword. Because we don't we will continue to drop points either in games we should win or against teams we should beat. Albeit it does allow us to be a bloody difficult team to beat especially by the top 4/6 clubs.

THis - what Punts said. Leicester have scored 54, we have scored 35. OK, 9 of those were against Soton, but even if we knock 7 of those off, they've still scored a third more goals than us. It is a simple maths fact in the Premier League that if you win half your games and lose half you qualify for Europe. If you draw every game you go down, or very close to it. As I said on the match thread, the next two games are not just must-win, they are must-win-well
