Wolves 0-0 Brighton (Shit we're now 5th) Thread

Yes thanks (and Tredman), all the young lads went mad and crusty old me was mystified! Sounded like something off a dodgy Maradona video from 1987
It's the Espanyol goal music!

As for today, we were clearly conserving energy for Thursday and therefore we incredibly subpar.

Vinagre looked like he was attempting to be defensive and negated the best part of his game, also we seemed to avoid moving the ball forward quickly and creating space.

Onto Olympiakos away where we will be far better as I'm sure winning the Europa league is our priority now.

I don’t get the “shit we’re 5th” thing either. Yes, amazing that we are competitive in this league and doing well. But it’s still a missed opportunity - we should be 4th this evening because we should be finding a way to win that game today.

Chelsea 2 points ahead with a game in hand.
Sheff Utd level on points with a game in hand.
Man Utd & Arsenal can both go above us if they win their games in hand.

Of course it’s not doom & gloom, but I just don’t get the smugness about the league position. We could easily be 8th/9th.

It was a missed opportunity whichever way you look at it.

I don't think people are being smug about going 5th. That was the type of game that we'd probably have lost last season given that performance. Yes it was flat, yes it was disappointing, but we've played way more games than last season already yet we still didn't lose and we kept a clean sheet. I think you can forgive the odd off day as long as they are games we don't throw away.

There are positives to take from it, just as there are negatives. I think the positives outweigh the negatives given the big picture though personally.

This!

The spurs win made us think something was possible that previously we didn’t realistically feel was possible (4th). This has bought us back down to earth today. But it’s also a bad result in the race for 7th. Need a win against West Ham now to keep ahead of the curve

We'll probably be above Man Utd, Spurs and Arsenal this time tomorrow so can your 'disappointment'.

The crowd were awful today. I don't mean in terms of atmosphere. Just constant fucking whining and getting on the back of individuals. Go and do something else with your weekend if that's your level of 'support'.

Coady MOTM.

First 10-15 minutes we were decent then Brighton came into it. So many nearly moments, couldn't quite get the final pass in. We didn't ever look like conceding but not enough clear cut chances created.
Traore really looks out of sorts atm, hardly tried to beat his man in his normal manner, Podence looked ok, really thought it was crying out for Neto
I was actually buying into the 'we can get 4th' vibe recently but today showed why we probably won't. I'll still be delighted if we finish 6th and beat Olympiacos

We have drawn more games than anyone and in those draws Brighton 2 Burnley Southampton Man Utd 2 arsenal Leicester 2 Sheffield Utd palace . That is a lot of two or 4 points dropped if you’re being harsh. Win one lose one would have us 3 points better off in the games we have drawn twice already. It’s not being negatively. We are not a clinical team. We thrash no one . We are a good exciting side but we are not top four yet and today showed why. In a number of those draws we have barely registered one or two shots on target. No coincidence our home and away form are so similar. Teams think they can get a point from us at home and so far they have been proved right too often. A good performance needed in the week and at West Ham and this dross will soon be forgotten . Still seems Brighton or blue and white stripes have the Indian sign over us

Tbf, Arsenal will need to win that game in hand by more than three goals, and United are going to do well to get three points from City tomorrow. Spurs drawing today was a good result for us too. In terms of when - not necessarily where - we could have dropped points, this weekend is looking like one of the better times.

Agree with the general mood that it was a fairly uninspiring performance today. Started bright but faded, and another game where we never really clicked in the final third despite plenty of possession there.

Arsenal’s game in hand is also City away!

Boom.

Guy next to me actually said it had ‘been a waste of his Saturday afternoon’. Poor little thing.

Shows how far the expectancy level has risen. Harsh but fair. It was awful to watch

It's not even remotely fair, the fans were bloody awful today.

Well I'm afraid you'll have to take my word for it, as I was there and you weren't.

TV doesn't pick up each individual dickhead shouting out dreadful stuff and by God were there plenty of them today.
