Wolves 0-0 Brighton (Shit we're now 5th) Thread

Meh.. Predicted a draw and no surprise really, i reckon if we had played Huddersfield today we would have lost.... Just one of those things.
Thought Jota tried to add some urgency and played well, Neves was our best midfielder until he was subbed.
Word for Bissouma... Thought he was great for Brighton today, i think him taking the ball from Vinagre all afternoon was the decider on Vinagre to play the ball backwards.
Think Neto would have added something different which is what was needed.... More urgency.
Please lets sort out our fucking awful throw-ins, noone shows for them and the initial delay in taking the throw is getting tiresome.

Thought Podence played well when he came on, but we didn’t really move the ball to him or Traore. Credit to Brighton on closing Moutinho down very effectively, I think we missed Jonny too.

I thought Podence looked good too!

Nuno: Tough game, we needed to circulate the ball faster, we didn’t create too many chances - Brighton were very organised.
We didn’t perform well
We must recover, because we have a big big game on Thursday night
We should have done better
#wwfc

Think just one of those days, we’ve performed very well lately, just move onto the next one!

Too much waiting for something to happen rather than making it happen. 5.5/10 all round the exception of Rui was no can have 6/10.

I guess we were playing a different way in an attempt to conserve a bit of energy for Thursday.

Wolves 0-0 Brighton (shit we’ve gone upto 5th) Thread

Podence has to do more. Don't care if people think it's harsh either. I get he's only getting sub appearances settling into a new country and league etc but if he's not going to make any impact we may as well use Neto. Jota and Raul represent a massive portion of out goal threat and we can't afford to be bringing on players for either that aren't offering much.

no idea what you're on about, he was one of the only ones doing anything. always heads up when on the ball looking for teammates and made some good runs. hardly his fault he didn't get a hat trick in 10 minutes with the team playing the way they were.

I found it odd that we brought Neves off and kept Donk on, we needed to move the ball quicker to open up space, and Donk doesn’t help with that.
Vinagre went backwards too much when he had space to run into.
I thought Podence was very lightweight when he came on, although we didn’t give him much opportunity to run at people.
Raul didn’t achieve much - he was trying flicks and tricks but nothing really came off.

I assume that’s the way Brighton play against most of the good sides? Wonder what other teams do differently to us to open them up?

I get that it's frustrating, but what, did we expect to just roll Brighton over?

There aren't any truly bad sides at this level.

I doubt anyone expected that at all - we just expected more from our boys.

Very poor game in terms of performance and entertainment though we looked ok for the first 20 minutes or so before fading. Nobody excelled. Vinaigre seemed low on confidence, often stopping and passing back to Saiss rather than taking his man on, not what's needed from a LWB in the way we play.

I always felt Neto was unlucky to be dropped recently so mystified as to why he played no part in this game. Traore tried to make things happen when he came on but I have felt a bit of selfishness has crept into his game of late with all the plaudits he has received this season meaning he doesn't release the ball when he should and the move comes to nothing.

I don't think Boly did much wrong but there was a moment in the first half where he tried to be too good just outside the area and almost played us into trouble.

Positives are we didn't lose, another clean sheet and Raul managed a rabona in each half.

What was the music they warmed up to just before the second half? Not the usual but every lad under the age of 23 seemed to go nuts when it came on and were singing it throughout the second half.

The music was what was played after the final whistle at espanyol I think.

.

Took his man on with mixed success in the first half when he lost it there were collective sighs. That killed his confidence in the second half and played it safe leading to heavier sighs and eventually boos.

I liked that burst forward Donk made in the first half and then there was nothing until the 91st and that wild miss.

Felt we made it easy for BHA, I'd have had Neto in behind the front two instead of Donk and had them playing on the deck and bringing Doc/Vinagre in.

When we did that and pressed we caused mistakes like when Jimenez ran through in the first and Jota made them very nervous occasionally.

Whatever, annoying day but if City win tomorrow we can say we got away with one.

Extremely frustrating afternoon. We looked on top for the first 15 mins even though we only had a couple of long range efforts, but after that we started to let Brighton pass the ball around and stood off them too much. That set the tone unfortunately and we continued to let them pass the ball around their midfield and back line for large spells. When we did get the ball our passing was really slack and the tempo too often wasn't there going forwards. Our crossing kept getting cut out all the time too which was frustrating.

Vinagre had a real mare tbh. Constant checking inside and losing the ball first half and he just went into his shell in the second half.

Traore gave us more impetus to get players around the box once he started to run at people. But nothing was still coming off for us, as was the trend all game.

I'd have liked to have seen Neto instead of Podence, not that he didn't do ok, but Neto has had much more threat about him off the bench recently than Podence has.

All in all an off day. But at least we kept a clean sheet, didn't lose, and still moved up a place in the table. Not the end of the world but could have been so much better if we were a bit more on it.

Didn't go today - was it this.

Yes thanks (and Tredman), all the young lads went mad and crusty old me was mystified! Sounded like something off a dodgy Maradona video from 1987
