Welcome to Wolves Rui Patricio

Without wishing to be negative it seems a lot of hassle for a player in a position where an upgrade was a nice to rather than have to have.

I disagree on your last part, Patricio is a big step up from Ruddy, performing a very key role in our team not just for his goalkeeping ability but his ability to play out from the back too.

As Dan says they agreed a fee with us previously, plus Sporting also have seen other players do exactly the same as Patricio has done.

That was my position too, I didn't want us getting dragged in to a whole load of bullshit. I suppose we have to trust the club that we're in the clear.

Remember it's very easy to fire around bollocks accusations, we know all about the tripe that Leeds and Villa chucked out last season, of course we know it was baseless and we knew we could easily back ourselves up but to those who don't take an avid interest in our affairs, they might just believe it at face value. I'm sure plenty of Villa fans still do. Although they're currently more bothered about blaming the FL for letting Twitter Tone take over. Funnily enough they didn't have a problem three months ago with that when they were calling him "one of the best owners out there" and lapping up his semi-literate nonsense.

I do see where you're coming from, but we're playing with the big boys now, where margins are much finer. A couple fewer goals conceded could mean six extra points, which can make a huge difference to a mid-table PL side (or, God forbid, a struggling one). Ruddy attracted his share of criticism last year and, as YW implies, GKs are becoming evermore the first line of attack as well as the last line of defence. We can't know exactly what he'll bring to the table until he plays, of course, but I'm hoping and expecting it might well be worth the hassle.

It's basically fuck all hassle at all. We got the lawyers involved earlier. We know we will be in the clear. Sporting can shout and scream. We will play Rui.

Simple.

Will say badly reported. Timmy has said the keepers names and Ruddy has responded, so the replies will be "he" or "they" etc

ruddy seems fine to me in that article

Sporting will be coming back with a "oh yeah, e18m, great deal. We accept" as they see their claim disappear down the plughole!

Their claim disappears down a plug hole as they had already accepted 18m from us. So their claim is bullshit from the start but if the stuff in that report is true, they will end up with £0.

Translation please
Basically messages found between the mad President and others that say send some folk to scare the players and then the attack happened at the training ground.

Police Judiciary seized the cell phone former director general of Sporting during the 'Cashball' lawsuit, and will have found messages exchanged between André Geraldes and the ousted president who linked them to the events of May 15.

The Judicial Police (PJ) has in its possession messages sent by the former general director of Sporting André Geraldes to Bruno de Carvalho who call the president dismissed Sporting Clube de Portugal to attack the players and technical team of the club in May in Alcochete , news the "Correio da Manhã".

The newspaper reported in the Friday edition that the messages were noticed when PJ seized the cell phone of the former Sporting General Director, who on May 16 was arrested on suspicion of sports corruption in the "Cashball" case (one day after the attack to the academy of Alcochete).

In one of these communications, André Geraldes will have suggested to Bruno de Carvalho to send elements of a cheer "on top of the players", to show them who is in charge. All this content should be sent to the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Lisbon, after being validated by the examining magistrate in Porto.

The investigation into the attack by the academy of Alcochete that has been conducted by the PSP and GNR, has already led to the preventive detention of 36 elements linked to the youth Leonine.

It is recalled that in the afternoon of May 15 Bruno de Carvalho and André Geraldes had a meeting scheduled at the club's training center, with the players and the technical team, at 4:00 p.m., but they ended up being reunited at the Alvalade stadium.

An hour later began the attack that culminated in the entrance of the spa with aggressions to the players and elements of the technical team.
..

I don't know if the Portuguese guy on the Mix is one of the guys on here, or if this is already known but he believes that the players were called into training on a day off by BdC and it was unusual for them to be in the gym/spa but it was easier to contain the players there rather than a bunch of 'ultras' attempting to chase elite athletes over open fields.

And the president coincidentally turned up just after the ultras has left - oh, and there was no security on duty that day...

I’m shocked at the implication he could have had something to do with it... :)
