Welcome back Stears, I am another who changed my mind on him several times. I think he will be a good addition and can immediately slot in without having to settle. With the addition of some quality full backs (CBJ & Silvio) Stears & Batth is more than good enough to get us to where we need to be. I think Hause will be the answer eventually but not for a full season.

I echo the thoughts that EEL being 1 player further away from the first team is a positive.

Welcome back, hope it goes well...having said that with some of the attacking signings we've made, was hoping for better quality at the back.......suppose Stears and Batth make one decent defender between them and so we'll just win games by the odd couple of goals in 6 goal thrillers

He isn't keeping anyone truly talented from seeing the pitch and he's better than what we've got. Add in that he formed an effective partnership with Batth for 24 months and you won't hear a single complaint from me. Welcome back, Stears.

I'm not to concerned with the centre of defence, we have better fullbacks and potentially a much better defensive midfielder in Saiss to protect them.

Like everyone else I would have liked better but Stears is superior to EEL so overall central defence is marginally stronger.

Not ecstatic, but not unhappy either that he is back - suspect that he wasn't the first choice target we were after, but will do a job for this year (though may well be superceeded in Jan anyway) & is better than the one we have offloaded on loan

Personally I'd rather see Stearman and Hause than Stearman and Batth.

Stearman is, IMO, now the best CB we have. Batth is, IMO, already at his ceiling. Hause is, IMO, capable of developing into a better player than either of them.

[Iorfa - Stears - Hause - Bojack] will do me fine for the season. If Hause doesn't develop as we'd like, then he can easily be dropped for Danny.

Totally agree, Alan. Whatever you think about his footballing ability his passion for the club shines through. I wasn't hugely in favour of the move, but I'll be bloody delighted when he scores his first goal of his second spell.

He really has a passion for the club and reiterated his fathers support, his hope to come back, the sadness at not getting a proper goodbye and the fact he had not asked for a move. I hope he does perform and enjoy himself here again. Its clear it is where he wants to be.

even Mrs CostCo commented on the pic of him smiling holding his shirt up. He's genuinely happy to be back with us. Should not have sold him in the first place.

Possibly so, but the point still applies. We had primary targets that we were unable to attract and so Stearman was a sensible short-term back up plan.

Very pleased to have Stears back. I predict that him and Danny will not take long to AGAIN become one of the best Championship central defensive pairings.
