Traore the enigma

Nuno on MOTD2 - basically we play Traore up front because we want him to receive the ball higher up the pitch (implying that we can't trust him to play wide because he just stands around on the halfway line).

Could also be that we want Traore higher up the pitch but don't want one of our wingers to be the highest attacker.

Teamtalk whoever they are,are reporting that Middlesbrough are wanting to loan traore for four months in January

Mate, teamtalk were literally the only source of football rumours in the 90s. You had to ring up to get all the gossip on Wolves :)

I can't see Nuno admitting to making a mistake that quickly. Plus whatever side of the Troare curtain you are on the fact is he's started 2 of our last 3 games

His comments in the E&S would seem to indicate he's happy with the IFs he has too. No point in loaning him out imo, we either work with him to improve him or sell him on.

Boro trying their luck. Maybe in the summer, but not a lot of chance in January.

Would agree with that. I think Cav or Costa will be sold first if this Japanese lad is coming in.

I know its only the E&S, but this seems quite definite from Nuno:

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for Portuguese side Portiomense, whose chairman Rodiney Sampaio said Nakajima is ‘80 per cent in Wolverhampton’.

But Nuno says he does not know the player.

“It’s rumours. As long as we approach the transfer window, more rumours will come,” he added.

“More players will be connected, but I cannot speak about it. I don’t know the player, no, so it’s not (even) a rumour.”

I’ve seen quite a few comments about Traore “starting well” against Newcastle. I’m not even sure he did that! Yes, ok, he did a decent turn and ran at the Newcastle defence in the first 5 minutes, but then he perfectly summed up the frustration we all have with him, as he could have slotted Jota in for a tap-in, but instead kept his head down and lost possession.

He’s exciting to watch sometimes, but I honestly feel like the team suffers as a whole when he plays. Impact sub or nothing from here on in IMO.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Cav after all the Huddersfield stuff this summer, and he’s started less than Costa despite performing better. Would be a shame as he’s been great for us. (And I know very little about Nakajima!)

Cav will be the one to go if anyone. He's on a much shorter leash than the others. One poor game and he gets dropped.

I don't understand why Cav is getting the treatment he is. I could say the same, reversed for Costa.

I can't understand why but this does seem to be the case.

Ah, ninja'd.

boom you can't out-'cav-loving-american' me, bro. :charge:

I like Cav a lot, but he has got a lower ceiling than the other imo. Great option to have in the squad though.

and yet he's been our best forward in 2018 (1 shit game aside), meanwhile he's still being touted as inferior ??

really don't understand why this "low ceiling" bullcrap is still being said.

He's not been better than Raul, nor arguably Jota now.

Nothing to get wound up about, I mean he's good and everything, I'm just saying he's not essential to the team like Coady, Neves, Jota etc

I agree. Costa should be the one, he's been shit for most of the season.
