Traore the enigma

He did alright yesterday.

I've only seen the highlights, but apparently he played well yesterday, but just to prove you can make any case you want he played 2/3 of the game that we lost 1-0, the 1/3 of the game he didn't play we won 3-0

He did - his work rate defensively was hugely improved and he intercepted quite a few passes. His use of the ball was hugely improved too.

I think when it starts, it needs to be in the right inside forward position. He can also be useful as the central forward when we are protecting a lead I would say too. He tweaked his hamstring it appeared yesterday so I doubt he will start against Palace anyway.

I thought he played well yesterday but Timmy II's 9/10 in the player ratings is a little OTT.

The vital thing yesterday was how often he relieved pressure by going on those runs. We'd have been proper under the cosh without them

I think this and his positioning were the best I've seen from him. Played as a member of a team for the first time yesterday. Not as good as Costa in attack but no-one had a bad game yesterday.

He showed signs of improvement of playing for the team v Liverpool. He didn't have a great game in terms of his threat but he did at least show signs he can do something other than run fast and fall over. Obviously v Fulham he took 3 steps back but good to see he stepped up again. Maybe a run of games is what he needed. No news from Wolves on his injury yet but Johnny Phillips did say it was just a tightening so taken off to protect it.

too early to say if there's been a massive shift but I think yesterday was his most cohesive performance for sure

I still think he can be prone to hold the ball too long and run into walls but his team play is improving, so fingers crossed that continues

That’s the key though isn’t it - we know he can run past people - and he’s superb at getting to the line and getting a cross in - the key areas we need to see improvement in are team shape, choosing the right time to run and the right time to pass, and his incisive passing. He’s a long way away from being fantastic at those, but there’s improvement.

Not saying it was down to him per se, but is it a coincidence that we played far better and kept the ball better after he went off as sub. Is it a case that it is easy for our players to give the ball to him and let him run with it or is it that we can’t build as a team with him on the pitch?

Just to say though, I thought he did well yesterday and was the best of the forwards before he went off.

I think it was more to do with Moutinho coming on.

It does seem we tend to generally lump it in his direction when he's on the pitch, the CBs especially. That's not necessarily his fault, I think it's probably viewed as a bit of an easy out, just dump it in space and let him run after it (sorry, run the channels, in Mick terminology)

Yesterday was his best game for us, IMO

Oh yes whole heartedly agree and if he keeps it up then more power to him !

You know it wouldn't hurt to just say he played well, it won't make people uncool or anything. Even DW half managed it.
