Transfer Speculation Thread 2014/15

@Afobe_: After a long day, dinner at #Gaucho with a couple of my boys Kieran and @JackWilshere. Decent food :)

Afobe's back down in the smoke tonight.
Think the main part of the medical (body scans etc) we have done in London anyway

I thought footballers could eat, drink and smoke what they want and still play 60 games a season? We don't need this medical nonsense.

You have ruined my illusion of him sat down New Cross in a hospital gown with the back missing.

A pacey striker with strength and a decent finish. Very good at disrupting back fours, getting into difficult places and getting on the end of balls on the break. Best way to use him seems to be with a creative midfielder to supply balls along the ground through the middle, if he gets on the end of these sorts of ball he nearly always scores them. Not sure how your team shapes up this season, but if you have anyone in the centre midfield as technically skilled as Dele Alli then he should score bucketloads for you as they've worked brilliantly together in his time here.

The Afobe/Bamford debate we've had going on all season until now and it's still not been resolved. My thoughts are that Afobe is a great all-round striker and better than Bamford at this level because he's versatile and can both play attractive football on the ground as well as being a target man for long/through balls. I'd have doubts about him being as good in the Championship though, he's struggled for goals at that level before and while his all-round abilities are great at this level, I think higher the level, the more he needs a 'killer app' in one particular area of his game. This is exactly what Bamford had, his first-touch finishing was outstanding and his manoeuvrability with the ball was almost as good and miles ahead of Afobe in these regards. But he lacked the pace and strength, so wasn't as good as Afobe for this level. From what I've seen of him since leaving us though, Bamford I think has continued to prove the value of having his stand-out finishing talent in a higher league, so I'm fairly certain he'll be playing in the Premiership in the near future, not so sure about Afobe though.

.

Does sound like he can do the job Dicko does for us now, might be a better one on one finisher than Nouha but less good at the poaching efforts like the Watford one.

It's the creative player bit that worries me. Dicko creates a lot for himself as Dangerous Dave doesn't. I hope Afobe is good at that part of the game.

Scores some great goals, looks strong and is hungry for the ball. A bit cocky too. The penalty technique is great when they go in, embarrassing when they don't!

Is it just me or is goal #5 (vs. Crawley) nearly identical to Dicko's goal last season against Brizzle?

Number 10 he was offside, number 11 is the Keystone Cops goal with everybody falling over everybody else.

Foley joining Solbakken in Denmark, that's not something I expected to read.

No number 10 was the opposition who put him through, number 11 he was 10 yards offside.

Looks some good finishes in their With either foot. So fingers crossed Kn gets this one right to take us up a notch.

Yeah number 11 is a shocker, how does the linesman not notice that?

Good video. He shows a good capability of finishing with both feet but no doubt profits from same rather generous defending. This is a good move for him because it's an opportunity at a decent sized club to show his ability at a higher level. Even Leon scored goals in League 1. His previous loan spells in the Championship he was unlucky with injury but that should give him more motivation to succeed in this division.

Confidence sky high too helps

Sigurdarson is apparently now in talks with FCK. Hopefully we can move him on ASAP.

Apparently we're also looking to move Cassidy out on loan though I wish we could get rid of him permanently, he won't make it at Wolves.

To be fair, it's pretty hard not to look good in a 'goals scored' video (although he almost manages it with the pens), but I was really impressed by his strength. That should serve us well in this league and, as others have said, we're far too reliant on Nouha at the moment.

Twitter suggesting that Rotherham are interested in Cassidy. Would be about right fit
