Tomorrow's fans parliament

We were 9 points off top spot at the end off the transfer window, outside chance, but not out of the question.

33 points from 18 games once the window closed. I'm not sure how much better you would have liked us to have performed.

Early days Craig, early days. It isn't great but we are a lot closer to the promotion places than Chelsea are to the title.

So bringing in someone like Ince or Lingard on loan wouldn't have made the difference between us getting in the play offs to us missing out?

I don't have an issue with us just missing out, the issue I have is that we are always doing the minimum.

I don't think it would, I think that kind of PPG ratio is about as good as it gets at this level, unless you have a really exceptional team. History bears that out.

The second point is a separate issue which I'm half minded to agree with.

How about our <13k wager? You have over four years to win. I'll even allow fuel strikes in your favour.

Because they did so much to help Derby reach the play-offs? And why an earth when we had Sako would we sign a predominantly left sided Ince?

We couldn't have realistically done more from January to May but the damage had long been done.

No, but can you honestly say with what we've got and how we are playing we look like a promotion team?

No we dont and nor did we at times last year even post Xmas when we went on a great run and just fell short. We still knew or debated that we needed additions to that squad and I felt that Afobe signing was the start of something special not the end or that last gem. Our summer recruitment lacks proven quality but may turn out well in the long term. At the risk of sounding repetitive we have missed the opportunity to build on a close run thing last year. A few more pounds/ quality additions/ could have made us a force to be reckoned with this year. At the moment we look a bang average championship side lacking in confidence and ideas and always looking like conceding a goal. The wage structure and financial limitations cannot help with recruitment and retention. If we are mid table come 1st January and Norwich come knocking again will Afobe stay? Ambitious , young and talented and not likely to go up with us this season means it will depend on where Norwich are. If they are lower mid table dont be surprised if he goes. That's what happens when you miss opportunities. Some one else takes them

Penk wrote a very good post either here or MM about not expecting Morgan to invest his own money but he could underwrite any bank covenant which would have enabled deeper investment, by deeper I mean Byrne without selling Stearman and £2-£3m on a left winger if Ojo isn't seen as a starter which at the moment he isn't. This without being an Accountant seemed to make sense to me and the balance between 100% self sufficient and him putting his money in up front as promotion would have paid the loan back

I think somebody at the FP should ask Jez or SM if they want to achieve growth.

The way stated above or a Director's loan or straight cash injection (which would be crazy) are all ways to achieve growth in football. The first 2 don't even have a high risk to it as the club will pay the loan back and even underwriting a spend (essentially a personal gaurentee) isn't particularly risking much.

No risk, no reward.

Well, I'm glad I took time to read that!
Despite everything aimed at Morgan and Moxey (surprise, surprise) I am more concerned with some of the managers selections.
The goalkeeper roulette that he has indulged in, the almost blinkered shoehorning Edwards into the starting XI and not actually playing the new signings.(Coady aside) I know there have been some injuries with the new lads but they are fit now...
1) Pick your number one keeper and stick with him for a run of games, 6 as a minimum so that some kind of understanding develops between him and the new look defence in match situation.
2) Play your best players...How is Doherty playing ahead of Iorfa?
3) Edwards isn't a winger be that right or left. He isn't a midfielder in a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1. There is one position he is competant at and that is #10 in a 4-2-3-1 but we have now signed someone whos best position is in that role too.
4) I see lots of criticism of Ojo but he needs games...starts. It is difficult to come on as a sub and pick up the speed of a game so if he was brought in as the Sako replacement then play him and let's see what he can do

Apparently the author of that tripe 'considers himself a bit of a literature geek'. :icon_lol:

Erm while I don't agree with it, Andy is a top guy so let's leave the personal stuff out at someone you've never met eh!?!

As for the letter. Well.

I agree all is not right, and that the club perhaps could do with clarifying a few of the points.

However in its quest to appear challenging, for me it comes across childish and ill informed, something that can have holes blown right through it.
Too much emotion and not enough fact.

I've finally read through the whole thing and there's a few minutes of my life I'll never get back. Jesus.

Pretty well summed up. But call me naive but I don't actually think there is much wrong. Certainly not a 'crisis' that seems to be mooted in various places.

Things aren't perfect (results and performances prove that) and there is a lot to work on, but this is blowing everything completely out of proportion.

This will also potentially make the mix a laughing stock across the board

It doesn't represent all fans that post on there either so their most popular forum boast holds little weight

There were, as many have said, a few good points in the letter, but overall it reminded me of one of my cypro fuelled rants of former years, too long and too much Waffle.

If i had written this one, i was be desperate to find a way to erase it, from individual memories, as well as from the internet.

The problem for me sits firmly in Kenny's lap, and his team selections coupled with this weird formation that we seem incapable of playing.

If EEL and Hause are , as seems widely accepted, still finding their feet, then there is no excuse for not playing Price in front of them.

I won't comment on the Edwards situation, as I simply can't get my head around it, based on my believing KJ is a good manager.
