Tomorrow's fans parliament

Paddy has not only stolen my thunder, he's stolen it and turned it into his own West End show, so I'll let him carry on from here and I'll pick it up where required.

RELEGATION IS OTT BUT WE COULD JUST BE MID TABLE WHICH IS PRETTY POOR REALLY. THEIR POINTS ABOUT SPENDING ARE FAIR.

I THINK YOU AND THEY BOTH ARE STRUGGLING WITH THE CONCEPT OF A SELF-SUFFICIENT CLUB. WHERE WILL THIS EXTRA MONEY APPEAR FROM?

Last season went pretty well and we just missed out on the top six. YES However all along there was a feeling that the club, not for the first time, had wasted the summer transfer window and not recruited well or with any ambition. WAS THERE?

THE SUMMER RECRUITMENT WAS POOR.

I think this is your first point. We brought in Coady, who I rate highly (your mileage may obviously vary). Wallace, Byrne, Ojo, Martinez - not sure how that is poor. What is the problem there? Lack of being experienced maybe? That is fair, but how do we know yet whether these players are poor? To me, calling it harsh is at best unfair

Sorry I meant the previous season. I thought that's what they were referring to. My bad.

The purchase of Afobe last January WHICH IS OUTSIDE THE SUMMER WINDOW TO WHICH YOU ARE TRYING TO REFER at last seemed to break this impression of poor planning and minimal investment £2M BY THE WAY - MIGHT WANT TO LOOK HOW MUCH SOLBAKKEN WAS GIVEN TO SPEND THE SUMMER WE WERE RELEGATED. AS A CLUE IT WAS ABOUT 7 BENIK AFOBES

THIS WAS A % of INCOMING FEES THOUGH

Well yes - Solbakken spunked 14 million quid I think. I am sure that can be picked apart and it will turn out to be less, but that is what I recall. Yes we got fees in for Fletcher and Jarvis but he spent a fortune for this division. Parachute or otherwise.

Yes but this can't really be used as an argument to say the club are spending big regularly. They spent an amount of the fees incoming, you can't not spend, it would cause meltdown on the mix.

THIS IS UNFAIR BY YOU. WE HAVE ALREADY FEEL BEHIND AND COULD QUITE EASILY LOSE OUR BEST PLAYERS IF WE DONT PROGRESS?

We are behind the teams listed that are in the top flight. That is called the Premier League TV Deal. We aren't behind the Championship teams listed at all. Who will also lose players if they don't progress

and on the back of his goals the season panned out quite well although the overall impression was still of a wasted opportunity REALLY? WE GOT RECORD POINTS TO NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS..

YOU KEEP PEDDLING THE RECORD NONSENSE. IT DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING. THE LEAGUE WAS SO SHIT IT SKEWED THE DATA. WE WERENT GOOD ENOUGH AND THEREFORE DIDNT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS

Yes I do keep peddling it. And yes it didn't get us up there. I am as gutted as you it didn't. But don't pretend that league was so shit it skewed it.

I think we failed, regardless of our points tally. At the end of the day we didn't finish in the top 6. If we missed out on GD but only got 60 points the result is the same.

STANDS A CHANCE THOUGH, WE HAVE BETTER FACILITIES ETC AND SHOULD BE ATTRACTIVE FOR PLAYERS. BUT AT THE MOMENT WE ARE NOT.

Stands a chance = I have no knowledge whether it does or not

Likewise you don't have the knowledge either. They are making a reasonable assumption. Don't see much wrong with that.

I think the issue is that had we brought in a couple of more players in January then we would have had an outside chance of automatic and a very good chance of reaching the playoffs.

Morgan wants the club to be self funding, which as people have said, as owner, it's his prerogative, but the only way that this can happen successfully will be in the PL (managed correctly). The concern for me is that if we live within our means in the championship we will continue to go backwards and end up playing games with crowds of about 12k.

NOT SURE VLP STAYED BECAUSE OF INJURY.

Yes he did

Must have missed that. I'd be interested to see a quote / article.

From a personal stand point, it's a bonkers decision. I'd rather play Bright or Edwards. Get some money for VLP whilst we had the chance.

I THINK THEY MEAN AN INJURY WOULD LEAVE US IN THE SHIT. IT WOULD AND IT HAS

THEY SAID DICKO'S INJURY WAS PREDICTABLE WHICH IS CLEARLY A NONSENSICAL STANCE. DRESS IT UP AS "WHAT YOU THINK THEY MEAN" BUT SERIOUSLY

But what I have said is correct?

They are just negative people so saying it is predictable is just their negative attitude.

They just aren't though are they? IT MUST BE WAGES IT MUST BE WAGES. That is just something they cannot know. And suddenly it is truth. Because they say it is.

His move to Leeds collapsed because of the Dicko injury

I don't know the state of our finances. I don't know how much money we have available. But at the moment, self sufficient isn't being too successful.

EDIT - Penk put this across well

Anyway, I'm done. Pick the bones out of it. I will report from the FP if I go.

You see the last bit is quite obviously hyperbole and this is the problem anti-Morgan dissenters have, they make silly points that are quite obviously wrong. How on earth are we going to drop to 12k gates when that hasn't happened since about 1988?

I don't think it's hyperbole, with cost rising everywhere, then people will find better things to do than go and watch an average Championship side on a Saturday.

As for investing in January 2015:

As of 1 January 2015 we were 8th, with 37 points from 24 games. We ended up with 78 points, so 41 points from the remaining 22 games. Not far off two points a game, Bournemouth won the league with under two points a game. So where on earth were we supposed to strengthen to achieve this massive points haul?

I'll happily bet you whatever you like that we don't get a league gate under 13k between now and 1 January 2020.

We were 9 points off top spot at the end off the transfer window, outside chance, but not out of the question.
