The Winter 2018/19 Transfer Thread

Regards Bauer, my boss is a Stoke season ticket holder. Just asked him about Bauer and he said he’s been shocking for them. Was signed with a bit of a reputation, but apart from pace has offered very little. End product is poor. Fell out with Rowett but had a couple of chances in the side at the start of the season and was “terrible”.

My boss reckons the link is his agent trying to drum up some interest. He might work better in a wing back role if he’s got pace to burn than he did there in a straight back 4.

So to sum up - Your boss hates you and feeds you shit info so you look a mug on the internet...

He definitely hates me... but I believe his summary of most things Stoke related are fairly accurate.

FWIW, I've seen Bauer myself and from what I remember, he looked quite decent. He might be another in the Doherty boat who prefers to get forward and leave the defending to someone else. But from what I hear he needs to improve his end product.

The only question that needs answering on his ability is - Will he be a better back up option than Oskar Buur.

Not going to be getting an upgrade on Doc in this window and we are short of a WB to cover. If he can provide steady cover until May then job done.

Thing is wing back is such a specialist position, the pool of players is much smaller than if you were looking for a winger for example.

We've seen with Jonny who is a genuinely brilliant full back but isn't quite perfect for LWB.

If we think this guy is a good fit for our system short term then it'll be a worthwhile signing.

Apparently the new Stoke manager has said he's confused with where these rumours have come from.

His mistake is thinking rumours can't be made up bullshit ha.

Let's just get Moses in on loan, he's nowhere near Chelseas team and is only 28

Moses will be on a shit load of money.

Short-term solution to give us cover at RWB, I know we have 2 who can play there but we need cover.

Very much in the Doherty template but arguably better at crossing

I don't know if he is better at crossing! His delivery is shocking.

Much like Doc does for us, he worked for a while in a very specific role for Chelsea (ie let Alonso do all the assists and stuff and just provide balance and legs on the other side). He's not actually very good. Cheating bastard as well.

Moses is shite. Piss poor technical footballer.

I'd rather play Bauer than Moses...

Paying upwards of £4m for Moses to sit on our bench for a few months in case Doc gets injured is bonkers.

I would have signed Moses in the Summer as an upgrade on Doherty, I wouldn't now though as it's now clear that he wouldn't be and would be too expensive as cover.

Doubt we'll sign short term wing back cover at this stage of the season, we have 3 good players to cover 2 spots, anyone that would be prepared to come won't be good enough or will lack motivation.

1 longish injury and we're boned. Wingbacks have to cover lots of distance. I'd really like another one in. Moses on 50% of his wages would work, or maybe trying to snatch Reece James

Any ideas?

A few saying it’s Bastos from Lazio.
Someone called Ryan Plant on Twitter:

I keep seeing the photo on the left flying around. Apparently it's Bastos, Timothy Fosu-Mensah or another signing that has gone under the radar.

It's Michael Agboola. He is a centre-back for the Under-18s who signed from Dagenham & Redbridge a few months ago.

---------------

For clarity, I've seen him on trial with Wolves against Blackburn (on the team sheet as 'Trialist') and in the squad away to Derby with the Under-18s before Christmas. Whether he is back with Dagenham, I'm not too sure because it's the PLU18 winter break right now.
