The Winter 2018/19 Transfer Thread

I'd never heard of Trincao until 5 minutes ago but an extremely quick google has already convinced me that he would be a stunning signing :) No further research needed, get him in Jeff.
I watched a vid of him yesterday and he looks like a slightly younger Jota.

To the surprise of nobody other than Dean Smith, Abraham didn't turn up to training today as per the Mirror

virtually all the media are now saying it's just a matter of getting clearance.

Guardian reporting that Abraham is staying at Villa after turning us down.

Sky breaking news that Abraham has turned us down and wants to stay at Villa.

Not fussed either way to be honest. Would have been an upgrade on Bonatini, but not someone I was ever enthused about. I think he's made the correct choice for his career. He'll score 30 Championship goals now as opposed to 20 mins every week for us.

I wouldn’t have him starting so it’s understandable but we do need back up for Raul at the moment.

Social media will be even more of a joy than normal the next few days then

Not too fussed he'd have improved the 18 not sure about the 11. Thought he may back himself and want to test himself at the highest level. He will do well at Villa as we know he can do it at that level.

Here's hoping Wolves have learnt from the Zinchenko stuff. Ask the question on the sale and then walk away if the answer is negative and look elsewhere. Do not spend the next 3 weeks hoping to pull the deal off and then be left with zero time to sort something out when it falls flat.

Like TT said, probably the right move for his career. He'll be playing Premier League football next season anyway, doesn't have to risk potentially wasting time warming our bench while he can be playing every week for Villa.

I wasn't against him coming here but I agree that he's made a sensible decision TBH.

As for Twitter, I have no sympathy for the countless trolls who seem to find taking the piss out of Villa constantly so amusing - I find it cringeworthy in the extreme. We're enjoying a great season yet others seem obsessed with other teams for wacky bantz.

Perhaps looks a little negative but think it's the sensible decision from the player's point of view.

He's doing well for Villa and if he gets anywhere near 30 goals then potentially a lower end Premier League club might look to buy him in the summer and then he's got the chance of at least a full season to prove he can cut it at a higher level. However, if he came to Wolves now and struggled he'd lose a lot of playing time as there are other options available and you wouldn't feel the need to really stick by a loanee in the same way you would a permanent signing. Then he'd be left next summer probably looking to another Championship move to rebuild some reputation so he's at least another half season away from proving himself in the PL.
